Elite Smart Trainer Spindown 🔧 // Direct BLE Only

RE: The June 2021 update change log line item:

  • Fixed an issue with the spindown calibration reporting incorrect speed when set to metric units for JetBlack and Elite trainers.

This process appears to work well for the two Elite trainers I’ve tested (Although the ‘coast’ message appears at 33-34kph and not the on-screen 37kph). The spindown calibration icon only appears when paired direct via BLE. Wahoo trainers have always had the spindown option via BLE and ANT+ FE-C.

Elite DiretoXR:

  • Directly paired Power + Controllable via BLE: Calibration icon. :wrench::white_check_mark:
  • Directly paired Power + Controllable ANT+FE-C: No calibration icon. :x:
  • Companion App Power + Controllable via BLE: No calibration icon. :x:

Elite Suito-T:

  • Directly paired Power + Controllable via BLE: Calibration icon.:wrench::white_check_mark:
  • Directly paired Power + Controllable ANT+FE-C: No calibration icon. :x:
  • Companion App Power + Controllable via BLE: No calibration icon. :x:

Wahoo Kickr 5:

  • Directly paired Power + Controllable via BLE: Calibration icon.:wrench::white_check_mark:
  • Directly paired Power + Controllable ANT+FE-C: Calibration icon. :wrench::white_check_mark:
  • Companion App Power + Controllable via BLE: No calibration icon. :x:

I’ve confirmed with Elite that the DiretoXR (and later models of the Direto and DiretoX), Suito, Tuo, Zumo, and Nero support spindown via ANT+ FE-C.

Can I please request spindown functionality over ANT+ FE-C be implemented within Zwift for Elite trainers as it has for Wahoo trainers. Secondary to this, spindown functionality should also be available when paired to the Companion App. Both of these requests will keep the user experience more consistent and will help users keep their smart trainers in-check regardless of how they’re pairing to them.
