Direct Connection Issues [October 2025]

Kickr Bike V2 over WiFi has worked flawlessly since the update (including tilt).

How many hours was your ride?

My connection was fine whole week since the update including racing the day before and others rides for almost 3 h each, and then, yesterday the disconnect appears. This is the same behaviouir as before the update. No connection through DiRCom ethernet / no problem with ant + connection.

Since the update, I’ve done multiple rides that were over 2 hours long and it’s been rock solid.

In total, I’d estimate that a I’ve logged at least 15 hours since the update without any issues.

Everything had been fine since the fix, but today, my first ride after the most recent update, Direct Connect is not working again.

“Power Source” & “Resistance” gave me the option for my Kickr via DirCon but got stuck on “Connecting”. “Cadence” didn’t have the option for DirCon, only BT.

I had to use ZCA as a BT bridge.

@shooj, please see my last post about what happened two days ago. Yesterday I was fine, but today I had five disconnects during a two hour workout. ERG disengaged, there was no resistance, toggling the”incline” button on ZCA only adjusted my Kickr Climb. After a few seconds, I got the “ERG engaging” notice, and everything reconnected.

So it’s back to unreliable, do you have any insight?

Thanks

The topic should be reopened, the case is clearly not fixed

And again another disconnection. I can´t do it any race because i dont know when it ´s going to happen. I lost connection, then i went to the pairing screen and DirC connection doesnt appear and the trainner appears as disconnect. i have to disconnect everything and try to connect again. It´s a nighmare.

Direct Connect worked well until today’s session. Had to jump to BT in a middle of a race.

This ticket should be reopened.

I’m on a Zwift Ride with Kickr V6.

Direct Connect has not worked for me for months. Very occasionally it will be offerred briefly, but then will disappear.

Wahoo Kickr5, with a new Direct Connect unit. Ethernet to Zwift pc.

Plugged into the same Ethernet switch as the Direct Connect, with all the lights on the switch showing that both the PC and Direct Connect are connected.

Question for those of you on KICKR Bike v2, BIKE SHIFT, and KICKR v6: are you on the latest firmware? If you’ve been connected via WiFi, a Wahoo trainer "should* update firmware automatically, but it’s worth checking.

Wahoo released firmware in December that Improves Stability in the case of BIKE v2 and BIKE SHIFT.
KICKR v6 firmware release notes call out WiFi connection improvements.
Please pair to the Wahoo app so this variable can be eliminated?

For those using Wahoo’s Direct Connect dongle: the adapter is a 1:1 connection. Be sure it’s not still paired to some other app. See Wahoo’s support site for other possibilities with their Dircon dongle.

Question for those of you on KICKR Bike v2, BIKE SHIFT, and KICKR v6:

Wahoo Kickr Bike v2

are you on the latest firmware? Yes

If you’ve been connected via WiFi, a Wahoo trainer "should* update firmware automatically, but it’s worth checking.

Using WiFi and RJ45

No other app connected to Dir Con dongle on my kickr V5.

@Shuji On Zwift Ride Bikes and on Wahoo Kickr v6 with dircon i can confirm that the issue is not solved yet with Zwift version 1.104. Can you please reopen and escalate this topic? Many users should be able to assist with providing data / logs.

Technically it can be a protocoll issue, where Zwift Ride Controllers use BT and Wahoo Kickr v6 uses TCP/IP, but surely Zwift experts know much more.

Interestingly with an old Zwift Click v1 (without controls for steering, etc) i use as quick backup solution when these disconnects occur, it works stable and reliable so far. It seems at least in my case that disconnects just occur just with the new Zwift Ride Controllers. Also my HR monitors (Wahoo TRACKR HR or Polar H10) do never disconnect and have a stable BT connection.

Other mates in our race orientated Zwift Group with Zwift Ride / Wahoo Kickr v6 / dircon have the same issue with the Zwift Ride Controllers / Wahoo Connection. Using Zwift and Zwift Ride without problem does not seem to be possible anymore. It s frustrating for the affected users and i assume that only a few post something.

The good news is, that it s happening regularly. Last time yesterday during a ZRL race, where i lost contact to the group shortly before the finish.

That s said in the logs:

[BLE] Device: “Zwift Ride …” has new connection status: disconnected

[BLE] Sending DEVICE - BLE DISCONNECT ERROR [ UUID: 229862222468242 ] Zwift Ride”

Device List:

  • Non-Selected: Zwift Ride
  • HR: TRACKR HR
  • Power: Wahoo Kickr
  • Cadence: Wahoo Kickr
  • Controllable Trainer: Wahoo Kickr

Most times when the disconnects occur, the left Controller is blinking red, the right one is blinking blue. It seems to reboot? If i am lucky it reconnects automatically, if not i look in the pairing screen if it can be repaired, if not: GAME OVER.

My setup:

Windows 11 PC

Zwift Ride Bike - Controllers on latest firmware 1.2.0

Wahoo KICKR v6 - latest Firmware 5.4.29 / WiFi 1.3.26 - 2 December, 2025

TP-Link UB500 Plus - Bluetooth antenna (latest FW, close to the Zwift Ride bike)

Additionally to to avoid any BT interferences i already swapped nearly everything like keyboard / mouse etc. into a cabled version.

Many other friends have a Wahoo Kickr v6 smarttrainer (with COG / dircon) and use the Zwift Play Controllers for steering / shifting. They do not have these BT problems.

Is it Zwift Ride Bike related?

Not a nice workaround to avoid GAME OVER, but so far reliable: Zwift Click v1 on the Zwift Ride Bike:

If I’m reading the release notes for SHIFT correctly, the SHIFT firmware release in December was for SHIFT with serial numbers above 442530.
Other serial number firmware is from October 2024.

Hi everyone! Sharing my experience as well since very frustrated since October 2025:

Similar to the above, my Kickr Bike V2 is loosing its connectivity during rides whatever it is via Wifi or Cabled (I tried to change the cables, the way it is connected, etc), leaving me with power drop outs. Usually I can login everytime smoothly at the initial pairing screen, but a disconnect would occur every two Zwift rides (again during the ZRL TTT this morning). The only way to get it connected again during a Zwift session would be to either switch to my power pedals or action the bluetooth option of the Zwift Bike (wouldn’t work everytime). Also working: restarting the PC and resetting the Router. All software updated to their latest. Hopefully this get resolved soon since very much frustrating.

Same issue. When I try to direct connect with my Kickr v6 it won’t connect on the pairing screen after the latest update. Tried restarting and resetting everything. Made sure kickr firmware is fully up to date in wahoo app.

Update from my post 4days ago - I’ve been forcing the link between my Asus router and the Kickr Bike (there’s an option on the App to do so). No misconnection for 4 trainings (from 1 to 2.5 hours each). However like others, no tilt available (I didn’t notice previously).

Any news? Already 6 months the DirCon isn’t working 100% (no tilt with Kickr Bike).

I thought the Wifi/DirCon was settled, but it isn’t. Got a full dropout from the Kickr Bike this morning. Once stopped, I opened the pairing screen and neither DirCon nor Bluetooth would be usable (keep saying “connection”. Only ANT would be pairing the Bike with Zwift without relaunching the game/rebooting the rooter. Starts to become very annoying… Also like Antoine, no Tilt.
