Pedro, the v5 cannot do DirCon over WiFi, only ethernet. I assume you re-connected using either Bluetooth or ANT+?
Even with the last zwift update, problem with direct connect still not fixed. I was on Zwift Epic race and half way my kickr bike V2 tilt stopped and resistance was acting weird not matching gears.
Did you see if there was an update on the Wahoo site for your bike?
Hey folks! The engineering team at Zwift is actively working on the root cause for the Direct Connect issue. We understand defaulting to Bluetooth isn’t ideal and are treating this as a high-priority fix.
You are right. Yep, reconnected using ANT +
I thought the latest update on Wednesday resolved the WiFi connection issues, but after today, I’m not so sure. On Wednesday, after the update, I successfully connected via WiFi for the first time in a couple weeks. The next day it continued to work fine. Friday, it wouldn’t connect so I did a reboot of my computer and unplugged/replugged the bike. That did the trick. Today, it wouldn’t connect again. I rebooted twice and cycled power on the bike twice without luck and resorted to connecting via Bluetooth again. Has anyone else continued to have problems?
Yes, had another drop today on direct connect.
Same here on my iPad.
Works fine one day, doesn’t work the next
Another drop yesterday during ZRL….Come on Zwift!
Had the inverse resistance again today; uphills easy, downhills hard. Unplug, reconnect and it resets. WiFi direct connect isn’t reliable, and the real use case is for races where you need it to be rock solid.
Yup. Just got the latest update this evening. Same WiFi connection problems.
Add me to the list. Direct Connect hasn’t worked for me and Kickr Bike v2 since the 1.0.1 update. I can connect sometimes, but it will invariably lose resistance control until I reboot. Connecting via blue tooth works, but provides a…. blue tooth experience with several random drops per ride.4
I’ve mostly been lucky mid-race, it’s just been the disconnect in the race start pen that’s gotten me several times.
To be fair I don’t think they claimed any further fixes to DirCon problems in the release notes.
UPDATE December 4
Hey gang - we know you’re eager to hear news on this issue - we’ve been testing a fix for this but it didn’t make it in time for this week’s v1.103 update. It will be in the next v 1.104 release.
Thanks for your continued patience, and until then - please keep pairing over Bluetooth instead of DirCon.
Thanks for the update ![]()
