Critical Power Issue / Zwift Support is horrible

I have had a back and forth with Steven D. A Member Experience Agent about several issues but one that he is claiming is no issue even after sending him the screenshots below. He seems to be unfamiliar with this feature of Zwift.

The issue I am seeing is that on the Critical power graph, many times now, my current ride power is not graphed correctly. If I set a new 3 min power record on my ride, the this ride line does not intersect the best line. It will show my current ride power graph below the best line.

In the first image, I set a new power record for 3 min yet my current ride graph does not intersect the best ride line.

In image 2, I set a new 5 hour record and that line does intersect the best ride line.

In image 3, I set a new 1.5 min power yet the line does not intersect.

Here are the screenshots I sent to Steven.

This was Steven’s most recent reply to my issue:

I’m still not seeing a problem. First of all, when you press the MENU button in-game and navigate to the pause menu, your personal bests are measured in 5 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes. So, when you say you had a “new 3 min power record”, I’m not understanding how you’re coming to that conclusion. It’s a 1 minute or a 5 minute “your best” score, not a 3 minute.
.
You said the 5 min power record intersects, so that makes sense to me, since one can set 5 minute records, not 3 minute records.
.
You mentioned the 1.5 minute power record but again, that’s not something I understand as being measured in Zwift. It’s a 1 minute personal best, not a 1.5 minute.
.
So, based on my observations, I don’t see an actual issue here. However, I’ll still pass your feedback on the dev team and maybe they can consider expanding the personal bests on the critical power graph to more accurately measure the stats beyond just the 5 seconds, 1 minutes, 5 minutes, 20 minute figures. That still amounts to a feature request, and isn’t actually an issue or problem in the game.

How can you possibly confuse the pause menu screen 5 sec, 1 min, 5 min and 20 min power numbers with the actual critical power graph when you hit end ride? I sent the screenshots. Does Steven D not know that Zwift has this feature?

The issue remains, Zwift does not graph the current ride power correctly.

That is not new. I think it had been like that forever.

Zwift power curve is bad?

Ahh it has been an issue for a long time now.

Accordng to Steven at Zwift though, there is no issue. He just doesn’t see what is wrong.

Found this thread searching for a way to view my critical power curve after closing out of a structured workout, like in your Activity Feed for past workouts. Is that possible? Seems obvious and valuable.

Also, I have also experienced the bad power curve you describe. For me it will flicker between being correct and messed-up. Hasn’t happened in the last 6 weeks or so. Only do structured workouts, no races.

I’m going out on a limb and saying (typing) that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and/or has never seen a correct power curve on any other sites such as Strava, TrainingPeaks, WKO X+, and literally the hundreds of other sites or applications that can figure it out. CycleOps (Saris) has had this down for at least 15 years by now.

I have the same problem.

I think it is fair to say that he doesn’t know that this screen exists, and when provided with screenshots doesn’t understand how graphs work!

Hey I am new to zwift but very old and knowledgible to critical power issues. The zwift handling of this problem is below limits. In fact this is not a CP curve but a MMP or Mean Maximal Power curve, as was first intrduced by Allen and Coggan. It should be constructed on many data points, not just 5”, 1 min, 5 min 20 min. Steven D. Does not know what he is speaking about. Any best new value should ly on or above the past curve, no discussion.
This problem is easily solved: we see no scale indication on the vertical or power axis. It means that this double graph is made with automatic scaling. Just make sure both scales are the same and the problem disappears. In fact I see the recent ride curve sometimes jumping
up to its correct position.

How do I make sure that both scales are the same? I see no settings

Hi @Karl_Hambrecht

welcome to the forum

This is a two year old post.

Can you elaborate on your question?

This is not easy if you cannot see what your post was that I was replying to and this email doesn’t tell me what my question was.
I think it was regarding the ride report after I finished a ride. The graph of my critical power used to allow me to hover my mouse over the graph and my power vs personal best power would display. It recently vanished. You (or someone) commented something about matching up the settings. I cannot find any settings.
