Connection failure Supertuck

Using old laptop Windows 10. (No bluetooth on laptop). For years i connect my Tacx Smart and my HT Belt with a Tacx dual Ant+ dongle. Companion connected WIFI.

I regularly get a connection failure doing “supertuck” or “changing worlds going to a Pen”.

I can reconnect by start up Smart trainer, but of course it’s frustrating if doing Supertuck.

What can i do about it?

Thx

Hi @Fons_Beckers,

Welcome to Zwift Forums! I am Nelson from Zwift Support.

I’m sorry to read about recent disconnections in your account. I reviewed it and found ANT+ disconnections from your smart trainer and HRM.

We prepared this article for tips on how to prevent this from occurring. As a suggestion, move other electronics (PC chassis, fans, power supplies) away from the dongle’s immediate vicinity.

If you need any further assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us at Zwift Support. We will be there for you.

Is the trainer a Tacx Flow Smart? Another thing you could try is swap the ANT+ dongle for a Bluetooth dongle and pair the trainer that way (and the HRM if it supports Bluetooth). I’m currently using the Edimax BT-8500 but have also used the TP-Link UB400. Both work well with Windows 10.

I haven’t heard a problem reported quite like yours so I’m unsure if something is wrong with the trainer. To test it a little more I would run the Tacx app on your phone, install any available firmware, and do a spindown in the Tacx app.

Thx Paul. The trainer is a Tacx Smart Flux. No updates available (anymore) after check trough the Garmin App.
Your opinion? 1. What do you think about connecting all my devices trough my Smartphone? That makes 6 devices BLE on Smartphone. My HRM belt is dual. (6 connections because i recently installed the Zwift Play)
Thanks a lot!

Pairing via the Companion app is worth trying as a way to test without the ANT+ dongle, to see if that’s the issue. ANT+ is much more sensitive to wireless interference than Bluetooth and has shorter range. Whether the phone’s Bluetooth service can handle the traffic is hard to guess since performance varies. Pairing via Companion is also affected by WiFi performance. If pairing via Companion makes the trainer disconnection go away, I would add a Bluetooth dongle to the PC and put it on a 2m USB extension cable to get it closer to your equipment and farther from any other wireless devices in the laptop.

Problem solved Paul. Thanks. I have moved my Tacx antenne dongle closer to the Smart trainer. It picks up my HRM to and my steer working perfect now. :+1:t3: THX
