Still no change for me and my Computrainer. They still do not connect anymore. I have also communicated this within my email correspondences to Zwift.
Hello all,
I can see some Zwifters are still not able to discover their Computrainer in the pairing screen. We’re still looking into this issue at HQ and are working to return pairing functionality for affected users. I’d like to provide some clarity on a few points:
-
Zwift has not deprecated RacerMate Computrainer compatibility
-
The pairing issue is not affecting all (Computrainer-using) Zwifters. I can confirm multiple Computrainer users are completing activities on their Computrainers in the latest Zwift game version (1.98.2)
-
We disabled the newer “Recommended Devices” filter in the pairing screen for the Zwifters who contacted Support or posted on this forum thread prior to 12pm Pacific time on October 3, 2025 as a possible troubleshooting measure. This change did not impact all Zwifters- those who did not contact Zwift Support will continue to see the devices filter.
From what I can see, the backend change made last Friday did not resolve the issue reported on this thread. However, it does look like some Computrainer owners who reported no connectivity recently may have intermittent connectivity.
I’d like to ask the Zwifters in this thread to confirm whether their Computrainers are visible in Windows Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers. I’ll be messaging Zwifters via Support as well. If you haven’t contacted Zwift Community Support and are experiencing pairing issues, I recommend writing in so we can best track the issue.
Hi Rowdy
Still not working, appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue
And yes it is showing up in the Device Manager
Thanks Rowdy. Out of town. But as of Sunday noon October 05, my computrainer was still no pairing and I could see the recommended option in the pairing screen.
I have tried several times since the Friday “fix”. Still not connecting
I am still unable to connect Thanks
And yes I can see the FTDI universal bus serial driver installed and functioning properly just like it did when I installed it on the new computer earlier in the year.
Try using a USB adapter with the CH340 chip and the correct driver, as some versions of Windows don’t work well with FTDI or Prolific USB adapters when used with the Computrainer.
I’m late to the CompuTrainer convention. I quit my subscription for the summer and just tried to connect again. I couldn’t connect earlier today. I remembered that Windows 10 recently updated the FTDI driver so I did a System Restore back to before the update. Zwift immediately connected to my CT like the old days.
Another Computrainer person just returning and no connection. Did confirm USB in Device Manager and running Windows 10. Please include me in the loop when software patch is complete. Thank you too to all the Computrainer’s who have been working with Zwift to get this up a going again.
This sounds relevant and perhaps important @Rowdy
This is good info. Thank you for sharing.
After rolling back the driver updates, I forgot to edit the Windows registry to prevent Windows from automatically downloading and installing the FTDI driver updates again. After the drivers were updated a second time, Zwift couldn’t connect to the CT again.
I followed the instructions at Windows Central to edit the registry to disable automatic driver updates. After rolling back the drivers a second time, Zwift could connect to the CT again.
My Windows 11 24H2 PC received a new FTDI driver from Windows Update. The new driver version is 2.12.36.20. After the driver update, Zwift cannot find my Computrainer. Surprisingly, the RacerMate One software is able to find and use the Computrainer with the new FTDI driver. And after running RacerMate One, then Zwift could find the Computrainer. But when I reboot the computer, I’m back to square one.
Since I’d rather not have to first run RacerMate One before I can run Zwift every time, I rolled back the FTDI driver to the previous version, 2.12.36.4, and Zwift finds the Computrainer again all on its own like it should.
But I know Windows Update will keep trying to push the new FTDI driver, so I would like to request the Zwift developers to do whatever is necessary to ensure compatibility with the latest FTDI driver.
Thanks!
@Mark can you post Instructons at windows central to edit reistry to disable automatic driver updates. Thx
I can’t post a link but use this search term to find the instructions: How to disable automatic driver updates on Windows 10 windows central
Thx Will do - Based on your post I rolled back by FTDI driver to a July 2021 update driver 2.12.36.4 - however still no connection
It seemed you actually rolled the whole windows update bac to the previous - - Ill try that as well. The weird thing is my last windoes update was around 2 weeks ago and I have been using the computrainer since that tiem w ithout problem - seems liek there may be a few things/ changes in play causing this problem
Thank you thank you. That worked. Really appreciate it.
I’m successfully running the July 2021 FTDI driver right now. When the drivers were updated for me on Oct. 2, the 2025-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 seems to have also been installed. I removed that update when I ran System Restore. It seems Zwift is okay with the 2025-07 Cumulative Update.
