I’m running Windows 11. I raced last week, after the latest update. This weekend, I loaded Zwift, and was greeted with the new Pairing screen.
I use a Computrainer for both Power and Resistance. It is wired to my PC through a USB to Headphone adapter. I believe the guts of Zwift still support my trainer (because my ZRL race Tuesday went as expected), but the new pairing screen makes it clear that it is searching BT, Ant+, etc (a list which does not include hard-wired USB)
Is there any chance for an update to the Pairing Screen for “legacy” connection types?
I feel like this is similar to me in that the new pairing screen is not picking up the bluetooth device which i read my power from. It is only picking up the power trainer. I know the other device is working because i can see it on a separate application. Is there something that can be done to pickup “legacy” connections or other blue tooth signals for power (other than smart trainers)…?
I have 3. They’re probably about 10 years old. The hardware has been bulletproof. The software has been a challenge (particularly when cutting edge software like Zwift or TrainingPeaks decides to only support cutting edge hardware).
I have not been able to pair for a few days now. Had to bail on my team in the ZRL race last night (which really stunk to do). Hopefully help is on the way. My old Computrainer worked great until a couple days ago.
My situation seems similar. I tried two different Computrainers one is the Computrainer Lab and the other is the Computrainer Pro. Both behaved the same way and neither could be found by Zwift to connect to anymore despite recently working just fine.
Yep - I thought that I was having some sort of unique hardware problem, but I found this post which is helpful because he I have to copy trainers I have had them over 20 years but I’ve updated the power sources and handlebar controller over the years and connect through the same USB adapter that sounds like many others are using. So I’m hoping there’s some update from Zwift about why this was dropped from the interface have been using the web for however long it’s been in existence, including when it was just a free beta and there was like 200 people using it…
How long will we have to wait? Right now Zwift is useless and I don’t want to pay for this month if I might not be riding until next month’s update. If you knew 2 days ago that some of your costumers were being pushed off the platform, why did you continue with the roll out?
I just got the following message from Zwift:
”Regarding your question about why Zwift no longer supports Computrainers, Zwift has shifted its focus to supporting newer smart trainers and hardware that offer the best experience and compatibility with the platform. Older trainers like Computrainers may not meet the evolving technical standards or integration requirements Zwift aims for, which is why support has been phased out.”
It would have been nice to get some warning before you ejected us off the platform!
Yet another message from Zwift which is basically a big ‘Screw you’ to all of us who use computrainers.
“I completely understand your frustration about the discontinuation of support for Computrainers and that you found out about it through cancellation rather than direct communication. Zwift made the decision to phase out support for Computrainers to focus on newer smart trainers and hardware that provide better integration, performance, and ongoing development compatibility with Zwift’s platform.”
Hi @Timanda_Clark
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I read through your email chain with our Support Team and see your inquiry was handled by an AI Agent. It says that in the first sentence. Please accept our apologies for that experience, we will do better.
We’d like you and everyone else in this thread know that Rowdy and I have been pressing the team here to investigate what changed for Computrainer users. We don’t have an answer yet, but will update this thread when we learn more.
We completely understand if you’d like to cancel your monthly subscription because you can’t ride. Your progress will be saved and you can come back to where you left off. Instructions are here.
Sucks for those with computrainers, but curious on my own situation where i use a cable utility device to read ANT power from cranks and convert to Bluetooth. Is that also phased out and not to be supported anymore?
That won’t help anyone with an annual subscription though, will it? And it won’t help with a monthly subscription if someone has just paid that and the problem gets fixed in, say three weeks?
