I have just installed the click and cog. I have updated my elite direto trainer and updated firmware on the clicks. When I start zwift it shows on screen I am changing up and down the gears but there is no resistance at all, from 1 to 24 it stays the same. All 4 icons are on at the main menu, resistance, cadence, power and controls. Would pull my hair out but I haven’t got any.
Hi @Jeff_Seal
This is Haziel from Zwift. I noticed your question about the gears not changing, and I wanted to share a tip that could help.
You might want to try using the Zwift Companion app as a bridge. Sometimes this alternative connection can fix issues where your trainer shows gear changes but doesn’t really apply resistance.
It reroutes the signal, which might help with the communication between your trainer, Click, and Zwift, and has helped other members with issues with the virtual shifting with Elite trainers.
Please give it a try. If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Ride On.
I don’t get this all the time but it has happened numerous times. I will have the “default” resistance at the beginning of a ride in gear 8 but can then change up to 24, back to 1, back to 24, etc with no change. If I leave it in a high gear then some way down the road a there might be an incline change which seems to make the resistance update. I say update because I have experienced where the slope goes down but the pedaling gets harder as if the change in slope caused the request for a higher gear to finally be processed to the trainer. Also the reverse where increasing slope gets easier if my selection was sitting in a lower gear. During this time the virtual shifting works as far as the number changing on the screen but no change in physical resistance. My Rizer also acts erratically during these times. I have had a few times where the gear number disappears and I get the “no compatible trainer” message. One time recently I actually had the message pop up while I could still change the gear number on screen. Zwift blames Elite and Elite blames Zwift. I blame them both.
I know, I know, I should SIMPLY delete everything, reinstall Windows and Zwift, move the trainer to the center of a large field, connect only the trainer ensuring no other devices are using Bluetooth within a five kilometer radius, and connect to the internet only with smoke signals. Sounds like a SIMPLY fun afternoon.
I stopped using my indoor setup for a couple months hoping they would fix their issue. Came back because of rain and the TdF event. After Zwift updated I couldn’t get power and cadence to connect via direct connect (says wifi but it is through the dongle). Had to keep trying and switching connection methods. Finally got it to connect but the resistance (bluetooth only for virtual shifting since Elite STILL doesn’t support over wifi) took forever, like over a minute.
I should have kept a log of everything I tried in the last week just to complete a few rides, the failures, Zwift reinstall, the failures, the frustration, the missed or aborted rides. In the middle of this I received my renewal notification for August 20 lol. LOL. It better be stable by then. Clock is ticking.
