Brand new Zwift Ride not changing gears

Hello there. I have bought a Zwift Ride and the associated trainer (Wahoo Kickr Core). I tried doing a ride in the Android application and I immediately noticed that the gears are not really changing, I mean when I shift to the hardest gear (gear 24) on flat terrain, the resistance is the same as it was with gear 10.

Here’s what I did so far:

  • Increase the physical resistance (by turning to 10 - max value - the “wheel” located near the cog)
  • Update the firmware of the trainer using the Wahoo app
  • Update the firmware of the handlebars using the Companion app
  • In the Zwift App, in the settings, section “Hardware”, set the setting “trainer resistance” to the maximal possible value.

Despite doing all this, I’m still stuck with a €1500 trainer that won’t change gears, so I’m a bit angry and frustrated at the moment.

Any tips?

It’d be worth checking out this on a very similar subject:

Also, the numbers on the Cog don’t do anything for resistance. It’s for fine-tuning the Cog’s positioning to reduce noise/vibration.

The Trainer Resistance value in the Zwift Settings is only for gradient simulation and doesn’t change anything on the flat.

You’re right, applying the workaround mentioned in the thread you quoted did solve the issue.
