For me clearing all Google Chrome browsing data worked fine. First I tried to clear all Safari caches, but that was not the problem apparently. Clearing all Google browsing data (advanced tab) worked. Nasty bug :frowning: I also tried reinstall Zwift, but that did not work. Update: It did work only once … now again the ‘Something wrong’ message …

Zwift - new update causing start up issues and not loading up:

My PC setup:
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Ver: 10.0.19041 Build 19041
Browser: Firefox

Tried to delete Firefox history and cache using => Options-> Privacy & Security → Cookies ans Site Data → Clear Data → Selected tick boxes.
This however did not work!!!

But what did work is the following:

  1. Type “temp” in the windows search box.
  2. This should show you the “Delete cookies or temporary files” Control panel screen.
  3. Click on this screen to open up the “Internet Properties” for IE explorer.
  4. On the “General” tab find browsing history section.
  5. Click on the “Delete” button.
  6. This brings up the delete browsing history window.
  7. Ensure the first 4 boxes are selected i.e. Preserve Favourites website data, Temporary Interent files and website files, cookies and website data and history are selected.
  8. Now select “Delete” button.

For me this removed the conflicting file that was upsetting zwift update.

Start Zwift normally, you may have to login again with your email and password. You should see the zwift screen and then an update screen pops up, just follow instructions as per screen. It looks like it is reinstalling but its just an update and my take awhile.
All your data on Zwift will not be deleted or effected.
After update completed and PC restart, ALL OK !!!
You should be good to go.

My Conclusion:
There is some file that was created during an windows automatic update lately in IE explorer that is conflicting with the Zwift update and preventing it from working correctly. That’s just my opinion and I could be wrong but it worked for me…

Cheers all, hope ye get it sorted

Leo A Chara!
Happy for you but are you serious that everyone should follow your instructions (and the MANY fixes suggested by others)? This “bad file” was created by Zwift with the recent update nothing else…i complain about Win 10 but cant blame them for this. I love to read how people practically reconfigure their entire operating system but scratch my noggin as to WHY? Zwift created…Zwift MUST FIX!!!

Hi Larry,
Yip agree with you, its the Zwift update conflicting with this file and that Zwift should sort it out, this was just a work around that worked for me as I use Zwift a lot. I can’t change the Zwift file or back roll the update but while I am waiting for a Zwift fix, I can now use it error free.

My advice is for anyone that doesn’t want to wait for the fix and also to let Zwift know what worked so that it may help them to get a fix rolled out. There are folks out there who have missed races and workouts due to this, so I’m just trying to help out…
Slan a chara,

Well done Leo your a good lad for sharing…! I have tried everything …without success and I don’t use Internet Explorer…Zwift Support USED to be so good (actual support!) but last 12-18 months piss-poor …sometimes don’t even get an acknowledgement…It is not the excellent platform I joined 4 years ago!! … I need Zwift…still winter here!!

Another fantastic example of Zwift customer support.
Here is another udate that fixes all the errors we created everytime we gave you and update oh and by the way the update doesnt launch so its your fault customer.

And in my example i launch the application from my laptop it tells me there is an update to install and this is where i go to, 6 times now!!!

Lets be clear i didnt type an address so i cant have typed an error. I clicked on a link on the Zwift launcher app that as is stated might be out of date.

Resending without link referencing Microsoft support which included instructions on how to clear cache.

Followed few days ago…didn’t work for me …don’t get error message now…just white box with " Something went wrong. Please try restarting Zwift."…is this progress?!

Are you on Windows or a Mac? The instructions are for the former.

Dave!..Windows 10 … Google…don’t use IE.

The instructions I noted work irrespective of browser, it’s not relevant.

Well not for moi!

Why mention your browser then?

Because some comments/suggestions above mention that IE is a or the problem.

The steps I linked don’t refer to any browser, you said you followed them?

No you didn’t but others suggested (?) IE was a problem…also that Wi_fi on/off etc was a solution…again not in my case.

Sorry, you originally replied to me saying you’d followed the steps I posted a few days ago. That’s why I was confused about the references to browsers, since the steps don’t refer to any. The Wi-Fi stuff relates to Mac.
