Can't connect to Zwift Click

Bought a Zwift Click, cannot get it to connect to my Zwift App, but it connects to my Zwift Companion app. I’ve tried

  1. Resetting the connection by deleting the Zwift App off of my iPad that I use
  2. Deleting and turning off my phone’s Bluetooth connection that I used to update the Zwift Click’s firmware
  3. Updating the Kickr firmware

I’m seriously at a loss for how such a simple piece of hardware can be such a problem

Which version of the Kickr do you have? Only the Core, V6, and MOVE will support virtual shifting. There are 5 other Kickr models that don’t support it.

What is the firmware version you have?

Hi,@Immer_Chriswell_ALHR , welcome to Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

I’m sorry to hear that the virtual shifting didn’t work with your setup. I’m happy to clarify this.

Upon reviewing your account, I noticed that your Wahoo KICKR CORE has firmware version 4.3.0. According to the KICKR firmware release notes from Wahoo, this version corresponds to the KICKR CORE V5, which is not compatible with Virtual Shifting. I recommend checking all trainers compatible with Virtual Shifting in this article: Zwift Ready Compatibility.

Bumping this because I just got my cog/click in the mail and I’m having the same issue.

I have a Kickr Core and have Zwift Cog and I can’t get the Zwift app to pick up the click.

Everything is updated WRT firmware. The click connects to my Z Companion app and I updated the firmware.

Downloaded the wahoo app and updated the Kickr Core’s firmware to the latest version V5.

The click goes into pairing mode with the blue light but I cannot get it to show up on the Zwift screen to pair.

What am I missing?

What is the firmware version you see for the trainer in the Wahoo app? The Kickr Core firmware version should be 1.5.36 after all updates are applied.

Confirmed it is 1.5.36.

The core is compatible with this wahoo device correct? I’ve read conflicting things online however I thought I had done my due diligence.

It sounds like you have the right equipment and yes it is compatible. I had to ask because I talk to many people who think they have a Core but are surprised to learn they have something else.

Any chance you have an ANT+ dongle in your system? Virtual shifting requires pairing the trainer via Bluetooth so that’s another common reason for failure to pair the Click controller.

I am making guesses here, but you can also eliminate some of that guesswork by making a support request since they can see things in your game logs that I can’t.

I hear ya. And I appreciate your help.

No ANT+ dongle dongling around anywhere.

My big check was to make sure the trainer was compatible which is seems like it is.

I’ll reach out to Zwift support directly.

Thanks!

@Francisco_J any chance I could get you to look into this when you’re on the clock?

Thanks!

@Paul_Southworth now the plot thickens.

I just tried it again tonight and Zwift recognized the click.

So both the click and the Kickr core were paired with Zwift but when I hit “let’s go” a notification popped up that I didn’t have a smart trainer connected to Zwift and I should connect one to proceed.

So I’m back to thinking the core is NOT compatible with the cog and click?

Wtf

No the Core is definitely compatible and you said firmware version is 1.5.36 which means it must be a Core. If you didn’t have a compatible trainer the Click would not pair to the game. I’m not sure what’s going on. Zwift support could examine your log files and possibly spot a problem that I can’t easily guess as I don’t have access to that data.

You could also post screenshots of the pairing screen and/or upload a log file to zwiftalizer.com to get more info about the pairing status (assuming you are not using Apple TV). Zwiftalizer would also show you if there were disconnections.
