Cannot login to Zwift NOW

I am not a network guy, and it sound like you may have some tools, It will be helpful to run something like that to help solve the problem.

OK, what is the issue then? I can log in just fine and so can 24,000+.

Zwift is hosted on AWS and sometimes there is some routing issues to part of it.

This was never an issue until there was a MAJOR increase in home users due to the virus. I am not just talking about Zwift home users, I am referring to the increase in overall home user traffic due to the virus. Many sites and providers are now throttling speeds and doing other measure during this time.

I know a VPN will resolve this issue during this temporary Zwift connection issues that some users are having.

BTW, wireshark will only give you a very limited view of the situation.

I now get:

[19:15:55] NETCLIENT:[WARN] Request timed out for: GET https://us-or-rly101.zwift.com/api/profiles/me

That wasn’t in previous logs.
If there’s a bad copy of the launcher.js cached in the CDN (CloudFront for AWS I’m guessing) then yes perhaps a VPN switch would help, as I’d be downloading from a different edge location. Network timeout would be a wider issue.

Oh well, I’ve done enough digging for one evening, I’ll just have to spin another time.

To be fair, I logged in though my Verizon account. And I was able to log in. So there is something to the idea that it is a general network issue. I also spoke to my ISP, they tried to make some adjustments, to no avail. They agreed that the infrastructure could be stessed, but they do not understand why a VPN would improve service. Just my two cents.

Issues disappeared after using google dns server…

Just managed to login using a VPN app on iOS after 90 mins of trying through our usual home network. Thanks for the advice all.

Huh? Issues still here…
Finished workout, save & exit never finish…

Eventually got logged after an hour. Logged on through mobile data samsung 10e, and then switch back on wi fi. Worked no problem. Hp probook windows 10 still not logging on. So no IPS issue, it would seem.

I guess if you make a hotspot with your phone, and link your PC to that hotspot you will be able to Zwift.

[UK user on EE] Login now works via usual method (my usual home wifi, no VPN, hotspot, etc.) Thanks all for the suggestions

i dont get the idea with VPN either ? we use company VPN but it makes my internet slower and the only reason to use it is to hide from hacker attacks

Using a VPN gives you a different routing of your network traffic. Thus if the problem is related to your ā€˜normal’ network routing (it could be timeouts or other issues) it may be a (temporary) fix your problem. However, as you write, it can come with a penalty to your effective network speed depending on your VPN solution.

hahahaha, man, you really don’t know how the internet works, do you?

I’ll try a basic, simple, stupid comparison.

You want to get from NYC to Sydney over LA.
Your ISP sends you from NYC to LA via United and from LA to Sydney via United.
The United plane is not cleared to land in Sydney, you’re not getting there.

A VPN will book United from NYC to LA but from LA to Sydney they will book Quantas. You’re getting to Sydney.

And yes, the Internet is way more complex and the comparison is wrong and stupid and stuff

ha ha and you think youre better come on
your excample proof my point with the vpn excactly like i said

the only thing it does is it hides where you are and lets you select where you will be connecting from and nothing else
no way in hell i believe a vpn will help these connection issues and as long as all other connections and apps works perfect it is 100% only zwift that has connection issues and i never had zwift issues at all before
just tryed again this morning and speed is 400/350 mbs and all training apps works like a charm
but when i log into zwift it still makes names disapear and peoples kit switch on and of as well as the app works in slowmotion

if all other apps had same issue we could talk about network issue but thats not the case its completely zwift related

next thing is if one wants a secure and safe VPN you cannot get that for free and im not going to pay for a vpn to use internet

and it costs if you want a safe working and reliable VPN just to trick internet to think you are in another country and thats not going to happen…

when everything else works perfect and only issue is INSIDE the zwift app then thats where i see the issue NOT with my network

no, that’s clearly you.

You don’t understand something and don’t want to learn about it, even if it’s affecting you.

I also don’t understand many things, like CNC-machining, woodworking, building a rocket etc.
But I don’t tell Elon Musk, that this Rocket Enginge can never lift the SpaceX thing into space.

Had this problem last night. Kept saying ā€œThere was an error logging in with this accountā€

Tried Zwift and Zwift Companion from my ipad and android phone. Both devices connected to the wifi and couldn’t log in. Turned router on and off but the problem persisted. The devices were connected to the internet ok, I could access the internet etc, it was just Zwift that wasn’t working.

Disconnected the android phone from the wifi and was able to log in instantly with no issues. Ended up using the phone as a hotspot and and connecting my ipad to it to get my session done.

Afterwards, the upload to strava took about 30 minutes before the ride appeared.

Tried the devices later on via wifi and could connect no problem.

Very bizarre.

I’m still waiting for it to upload to Strava after 18 hrs I’ve tried to manually upload it from myzift but it’s only uploaded the numbers no map or any other options

Update - Zwift support got back to me. The script error on the launcher screen usually indicates that the OS’s native browser has old cached data, so clearing cookies for Internet Explorer (Windows) or Safari (Mac) should fix that.
Screenshots of the process for IE here: Refresh the cache for Internet Explorer 11 - Refreshyourcache.com

Looks like the two problems I had - script error, and unable to login via Zwift, were not related - as I found out when Zwift login later worked with the script error still there.
