Can we please have some longer routes?

No, but Strava is mentioned often here. And the segments showing in CA are only sprints and KOMs, I would like to see at least the times of completed routes here, too.

Nevertheless - we are off topic here :thinking:

Ride on!

I once did 220km on Zwift back in 2015, which was 24 times round the “hilly loop” (the only route that existed on Watopia).

Yeah, it was a bit tiresome, but not as bad as doing the same with Volcano laps. =)

Volcano loop is just soul destroying. No rest at all there with a big group of heavy riders.

The loop that I’d love would have ADZ and Epic KOM looped together using the cliff side diversion.

Considdering that many of the zwift rides show up in the middle of an ocean on the strava map, i would say that strava maps are of little importance. I only need the KM, elevation and speed so that i get validation from my real life cyclist friends.
I know how much i’ve ridden and that’s enough for me.

Now for the actual topic i started this thread for:
Todays update is just another validation of my concerns.
Longest route is 25k, the rest aren’t even a warmup.
I could knock these routes out in a single evening.
I know route creation takes a lot of time now, i just hope they add atleast 50k long routes soon.

There is this France Classic Fondo in 1.33.5. In Scotland at least they have a route that includes most of the roads that were created. I do wish there were more of it. I’d be really happy if they would create a Makuri Pretzel that covers every bit of the map, just using what already exists.

Doing laps of a route isn’t really the solution, they very quickly get boring.

I like to ride for about an hour and a half and there are very few routes to choose from that take much over an hour.

I know someone will be along to say “yeah but zwift knows people only ride on average for 15 miles so what’s the point” or something. But that misses the point, zwift thinks people want shorter routes so makes more short routes and so people ride shorter routes and the whole thing becomes self fullfilling.

the solution would be (other than the obvious one - join smaller worlds together - but we get messy looking pictures on our strava maps waaaaaa) to allow you to build route in game and not rely on third party solutions or to line up routes,
do the volcano flat, followed by the hilly loop, then the flat loop then the volcano flat etc

** sorry - mini rant over! **

Yip, see also Pace Partner ‘improvement’ roll out. Its a blind spot for zwift they fall for confirmation bias to often.

On the longer routes discussion, as quick wins im sure there are a multiple of interesting routes could be made in the existing worlds to give some variety…
A figure 8 of the Epic KOM using the cliff tops road, or a few lollipop or after party routes (France being one with a climb to La Reina to finish after doing the flat bit in both directions).

It getting pretty tiresome with races & group rides these days seemingly using a handful of courses for every event.

Random novel idea, turn the jungle back to tarmac and watch the number of users return to that area and start to use it again.

I think i suggested about 3 years ago (or whenever they changed the rolling resistance) that they should pave one half of the route and leave the other side gravel and let people steer on to which side they wanted to use. everyone is happy!

I can ride Über Pretzel but I break out in spots if I think about doing 3 laps of Tempus Fugit. I still haven’t finished PRL Full (11 laps yuck) but I’ll probably make an attempt soon - at least it has a distance counter, a badge, an XP bonus, a jersey unlock. That’s probably enough to get me to do it.

on the weekend, it’s tempus fugit - ticktock on repeat for the long slow days on my side

but my god is that boring.

makuri is fun and all, but what are those lengths. 25km. I want longer rides. Connect all the maps, give me a huge 8h challenge

Also. Fuji. pretty please.

I’m slightly surprised we haven’t seen more of the Tour of Watopia '22 “handful of gravel” options (link to ZI article) - where the road surface was changed on a per-event basis - would certainly have allowed organisers more options to shunt riders back onto gravel/dirt whilst allowing for everyone else to hammer around the repaved jungle and high-five Sparky the sloth every lap.

I hope you like lots of loops and cross crossing over the same roads, multiple times. Otherwise vote for the plethora or subjects like these that Zwift HQ willfully ignores.

2019 suggestions for Watopian roads:

Combining micro worlds - could use an update:

Quick follow up for a laugh. If Min leaves or gets fired, I vote for ChatGPT to replace them.

Zwift listened and Zwift granted? :partying_face:

Technically.

I get the impression that the majority of people contributing to this thread really want more roads.

There are plenty of roads, the problem for me is that they are all separate from each other.

Not asking for them all to be one massive world, but having 2 or 3 really big worlds would be loads better than having a load of really small ones.

I think even a single lap of Tempus Fugit is too much, but 25 laps of the Volcano (or NYC Park Perimeter Loop…), no problem. For me it’s the variability of the terrain (no endless flats or even more endless climbs) that makes the difference, not so much the route itself. The scenery isn’t all that interesting after a few times anyway.

But yeah, a way to ride through all the smaller worlds without having to stop to change worlds all the time would be nice.

I want more roads but I’ve come to understand that Zwift are unable or unwilling to supply them, so I’ve lowered my expectations to pretzel variants. I’d be happy if they just slapped badges on a bunch of existing event-only routes and released them for free rides.

I agree!
Just brain storming:

  • Europe (Innsbruck, Paris, France, Bologna, Scotland, Yorkshire and London);
  • Watopia with some future expansions, like a costal route and new routes to Epic Kom Radio Tower and AdZ;
  • Japan (ou Asia for future expansions) with the Makuri map;
  • Americas (Richmond and an improved NY … + crit city??? + Rio de Janeiro route??? )

Would be simple and easy to understand.

The world rotations would give a great variety of routes. An expanded Watopia would be great with lots of climbing routes; a big coastal road would give a lot of flexibility for people that want to make big miles and not much elevation. And the Europe map (with the possibility to connect old routes) would be massive and awesome to explore.

Then improve Japan and Americas with time :wink:

I can´t see the scenery when I’m in pain and my brain don´t get the O2 it needs :sweat_smile:
