I was wondering if there is any official documentation or a comprehensive guide on editing .zwo workout files? I’ve been using a text editor to create and modify running workouts with some help from ChatGPT. However, I suspect there are commands or features I might not be fully utilizing. Any pointers or resources would be greatly appreciated!
You can create them in training peaks which might be more intuitive?
There are some purpose-built editors like https://www.zwiftworkout.com/ and https://zwofactory.com/
Thanks Stuart, I haven’t used TP in a long-time… I might have to check it out…
Thanks Paul, I do use the editors from time to time, but when looking at the functionality of some of the proprietary Zwift workouts, I notice there are features that aren’t being fully utilized.
For example, for running, I would like to set a “walking pace” as used in Zwift Academy run workouts. Unfortunately, this isn’t available anywhere—only a percentage of the pace is adjustable, which is frustrating because the walking pace doesn’t change in line with a change in the 5k pace.
Additionally, in some Zwift workouts, when in “free ride” mode, the screen shows the average wattage produced. I would love to see this functionality available for my own custom workouts.
Somewhere, somehow, someone must have the code!
Have you copied one of those workouts and then inspected it? Or tried downloading it from whatsonzwift.com?
That’s a known issue with regards to running workouts.
It needs it’s own editor but don’t hold your breath.
Paul, for a moment, I thought whatsonzwift.com had cracked it—they have a complete library of workouts! But then I realized all the run workouts are missing (not available for download)… just like in Zwift. I just don’t understand why Zwift doesn’t share their run workouts. I get there are very few of us running in Zwift, but not a big deal for them to share the workouts anyway -I don’t even mind using a txt editor to create the workout, but the examples are useful for reverse engineering them.
This has been requested for a long time to make all workouts accessible.
Another one for the wish list.
