so i did something a little different today. When the set up-connect screen comes up. Where everything is paired. I clilcked on the connect by phone link and saw that all my equipment was there except the controllers. I paired them and selected a ride.
It was a perfect ride, no disconnects or errors of any kind. I know in the past i have been told not to run the PC and the phone app at the same time, then i was told to run that at the same time.
No one ever said about pairing to the phone through PC connect screen.
Well something for you guys to try if you havenāt already.
Weāll see what happens tomorrow
so day 2 of this new connecting scheme. while the controllers remained connected for the entire ride, what did happen was that the vibration signals stopped about 3/4 of the way through, they never came back, everything else functioned and looked appropriate
see what tomorrow brings
also got a note from zwift this morning asking if i had tried pairing to my phone as well as the PC
second day on the phone pairing, everything worked well until about 3/4 up the climb (portal) then the vibration feature stopped working, controllers remained connected and functioned, just no vibration
third day, zwift releases an update, and of course just as i got to the top of the climb, controller disconnect.
I got sent a new set of plays and they exhibited the exacts same disconnect issues. Tried doing a ride with them paired through companion bridge and they were pretty good and didnāt notice any drops outs.
Yesterday got 1.48 with all the supposed fixes. Did a warm up and race paired through game and as far as I can tell only had a short drop out from left controller where avatar was constantly swerving left then I think it reconnected and and behaved again. Ride on bombs and brakes worked for whole ride.
This is good progress I believe.
A solution that works for me (a Windows user of Zwift)ā¦
I had terrible frequent disconnection issues with my play controllers but I wondered if the USB receiver in my computer might not as capable as what the Play controllers use. I purchased the following and after installing and many rides and miles later I have not had a single disconnect since. I had Bluetooth 4.x in the PC at it came from the manufacturer but now with this I have Bluetooth 5.3. It says itās for Windows so I donāt have a similar answer for Mac users.
TP-Link USB Bluetooth Adapter Bluetooth 5.0/5.3 Dongle Receiver (UB500)
Follow installation instructions and disable existing internal Bluetooth function before attaching and installing UB500 and downloading/installing their driver software for the device.
I canāt insert urlās but it seems you can go to Amazon and search for: B09DMP6T22
Hope this is helpful for others.

I have Bluetooth 5.3 but I still get constant drops with the right controller
So I connected zwift play through the companion app and got not drops. I had my phone right next to the right controller. Seems like I should be able to just pair through my Laptop which is only about 12 inches away from the controller. is there a fix coming for this?
