@Gav_Shearer thanks for flagging this up. I’ve gone ahead and emailed you to get some additional information from you, and I’ll be connecting you to the right Community Support Colleague in Zwift Support.
Oh cool, thanks for that Sam. Just saw the email come through then…
Much appreciated
Out of interest have you noticed if this is dependant of the world you’re in?
I lead a running event daily and have an assigned red beacon for each event which takes place in a different world each day.
Some days i can see the red beacon above the runner and it appears next to the persons name in the nearby runners list. Other days it doesn’t but if i ask the red beacon they say they have it on their own screen.
@Sam.W if you want to link me in with that colleague too I’ll help them diagnose the issue.
Hey Stuart, yeah that’s exactly what’s happening… I can’t say if it’s world specific. But it does happen randomly…
Pretty sure it’s not only watopia…
100% not just Watopia, in fact i think it works there on the day i run in Watopia.
I’ll go through my photo archive and look for a definitive pattern.
Cool, yeah I’ll start trying to take notes now on when it occurs, sometimes U can exit and rejoin and it’s good, but even that doesn’t work at times either…
I see this quite regularly. Sometimes we compare notes on which rider is seen as the sweep and different people have different sweeps with the red beacon at the same time. I’ve also seen it with the yellow beacon where some participants see no leader beacon at all, and the leader’s chat shows up like an ordinary participant’s, while other people see the leader properly identified - all at the same time.
Ok that’s good to know. We’ve had the multiple beacons thing happen before , but rarely… pretty sure yellow has always appeared…
I’m talking with support at the moment.
I’m glad to know it’s not just a 3R issue then…
Every time I’ve been told by yellow they can’t see me, on my screen the beacon is there…
My impression is that the situation that arises with two different red beacons is somehow related to a change of sweeper participants in the pen shortly before the event starts, but I don’t have a clear understanding of it.
Yeah that could be the case of you have 2 sweeps in the leaders list in the app, and the backup turns up first…
I think we had that issue once… half the riders saw me as red , the rest saw the other guy instead…
But yeah still only a guess.
yep sounds exactly like what has been ongoing for years. Sometimes red beacon is on the wrong rider. sometimes red beacon is not seen.
and it varies rider to rider what they all see which makes it more confusing.
Damn, I didn’t realise it was such a widespread issue… very frustrating at times…
Sometimes leaving and rejoining the ride fixes it, but not always .
On most of our PACK rides people see the Red beacon on 3 to 4 different sweeps every ride…
I haven’t seen this issue on my end in a while until this past week.
The multiple reds does seem to occur to people in the pens for extended periods, which is possibly also why I rarely run into this issue as I don’t normally join until 2 minutes to start or less.
A sprint ride I am part of, we have a handful of beacon sprinters who join consistently (as opposed to a list of red beacons who rarely join a ride), and the ride leader for that ride normally joins what I’d call quite early, usually 10-8 minutes to go, and he at times sees multiple and/or wrong red beacons.
Last week though the lack of red beacon occurred on one of our rides on Watopia, no real particular reason I can resolve; a rejoin on his end fixed it; as the yellow beacon at the time also mentioned she was unable to see the actual red beacon.
It’s only ever red beacon though. I’ve never once seen this issue with yellow.
For the record, all of us in this instance are Windows PC users.
Oh g’day Steve, how’s it going??
Oh wow, I never realised that, but it’s been a while since I’ve done a pack ride…
It’s such a pain when stuff like this happens.
Ok cool, thanks andrew, im chatting with support at the moment, it’s interesting to hear that that its happening across Zwift… For us too it’s mainly the red beacons that aren’t displaying properly…
Here it is visually.
I’m yellow.
The chap in front is red.
I don’t see his red beacon at all.
Everyone else does.
Other days / worlds / courses it works.
@shooj would you mind looking into this, please? Our sweepers are getting abused due to a bug that displays backup red beacons for some riders. It’s been happening for me when leading AHDR events in the past week.
Thank you.
T
Has been an ongoing issue for a very long time.
Hey Jason, Yes it has been a recurring one over the years, but this week it’s almost every ride. We can only keep raising it. I just don’t like it when our crew get buzzed over it.
