I’m still struggling with the exaggerated resistance when changing gear, even after doing lots of coasting on some easy rides and doing a forced calibration of my Kickr V6 in the Wahoo app. Before I had the Zwift ride, I had my MTB on the same Kickr V6 with the same Zwift Cog and a set of V2 clicks. The shifting was fine. No extra resistance. Unfortunately I no longer have access to these Clicks to try them and see if that helps the issue. Maybe someone who is having the issue and has Clicks and the Zwift ride controllers can try both and see if there is any difference between the two when controlling shifting?
@MonicaP @shooj can you please confirm if this issue is on the list of bugs to be squashed. Also, if there is anything we can do to help?
Are you using wifi too? Does it perform the same if using Bluetooth?
I’ve used WiFi as long as I’ve had the Kickr V6. The previous setup I mentioned earlier was on WiFi with no issues. I’ll try Bluetooth next ride and report back if it makes a difference
That’s interesting, I assume you already updated firmware for the ride controls?
All devices updated to latest firmware versions
Tried the shifting with the Kickr connected via Bluetooth after my workout today. Shift is definitely smoother going to harder gears! Thanks for the heads up. Seems it is an issue related to WiFi
edit: I take it back. Bluetooth again today and had the big jumps in power needed to keep the gears turning when changing up
I’ve now tried several auto-calibration attempts on the KickrCore2 using Zwift Ride (letting it roll until the flywheel comes to a stop).
Unfortunately, the problem persists. Each time I shift up a gear, the resistance increases by a good 50-70 watts for about 2-3 seconds before the power drops back to an expected level.
If I shift up 3-4 gears (in preparation for a sprint), the resistance becomes so high that I can barely keep the cranks turning.
At the very beginning, for the first 3-4 rides, everything worked perfectly, which is somewhat surprising.
For me and my 8-year-old children, who occasionally ride around Watopia, this is a highly unsatisfactory situation.
I’ve connected the system via Wi-Fi; I’ll try it via Bluetooth soon.
I expect both variants to work.
I’ve already tried all possible combinations of Racemode ON/OFF, instant or 3-second power smoothing, trainer difficulty, etc., unfortunately without any useful results.
best regards!
Christian
I tried my setup on Biketerra today as it now supports the Zwift Ride and Cog. Virtual shifting works beautifully on that app. Smooth shifts up and down. No calibration or fiddling. I just connected my devices and started pedaling. I think I can safely say this is a Zwift issue now
