I have a Neo 2T and Play controllers. I am trying to use virtual shifting. All the firmware on the 2T and Play controllers are up to date. The shifting works up until gear 12 and then even though the gear numbers change on screen, the resistance does not change. Below gear 12 it seems to work. The trainer works fine when not using virtual shifting (including on hills with high resistance). When using virtual shifting and I switch to SRAM style shifting it also only works partway through the range. Again, everything looks ok on the screen … the gear numbers change normally. But in 1-24 gear mode, above 12 there is no change in resistance up to 24. I was testing this on a flat course. I reset the trainer, reset the app, disconnected/reconnected, etc. and nothing fixes this.
I have the same setup. I updated my Tacx Neo2T to the latest version of Zwift Cog&Click. I connect them to my PC via the companion app, but the virtual gears don’t work. I can’t see the gear numbers on the screen. I can’t figure out what the problem is. Can anyone help me? Thanks.
Make sure you go to the Zwift settings and enable the virtual shifting (under hardware). Then you will see the gear setting.
Try this and let me know if it helps
In my setting under the hardware the Gear shifting Is not present. What can I do? Thanks a lot for help
Paul, how i can reset my preferences?
Nothing, I reset the settings but nothing. I uninstalled Zwift and reinstalled it, updating the system, but nothing. I don’t understand. I was hoping Zwift Cog would be a simple thing, but I’m just wasting my time. I’m sorry but I’m very disappointed.
Did you update the firmware of your Neo with the Tacx app?
Yes, I,’ve update yet
Hello @S_SI_D , welcome back to the forums. What gear ratio how many teeth are on your front and rear cogs during your virtual shifting setup? Also are you physically shifting at all during sessions where virtual shifting gets enabled? I haven’t seen any reports like yours yet, but we can open a support ticket if we need to dig deeper.
Hello @Giulio_De_Prosperis , welcome to Zwift forums! Are you fully pairing your trainer over bluetooth? If you’re pairing over ANT+, virtual shifting will be unavailable.
Hello @Rowdy. I am not physically shifting at all. I have the chain straight. Everything is off. I plug in the trainer. Start Zwift. Pair (via BT). Go to a flat course. Start riding. It sets to Gear 8 (as I believe it should). Gears 1-12 seem to work fine. When I shift to Gear 13+, it stops changing resistance (but Zwift shows the gear numbers properly). I’m not doing any manual shifting.
If I turn off virtual shifting, I get resistance properly, even on high resistance hills.
I happened to switch the bike on the trainer and tried it with both bikes. One has three rings in the front and 11 in the back. The other has two in the front and 11 in the back. Same problem.
Are you using the small chainring at the front? I was riding yesterday in the small chainring and i think i had same experience as you did…later i changed to the bigger at the front and i think it was working normal again.
I noticed this when i was standing up and i run out of gears as i was in 24.
I need to do more testing…cause i also changed the gearing in Zwift to FLAT when i changed to Big Chainring. The default gear using flat is 5 so you get more resistance until gear 12.
If you go to the Zwift Settings screen do you see the options Shift Style and Gear Range? If not, I have just posted how I finally got my Click to work (after 4 hours of trying various things!). Search in the forums for “Troubleshooting-you normally connect to Zwift via ANT2+ but you now have a Click and the virtual gears are not showing”
cant say I’ve noticed this on my setup, running the small chainring at the front
Hi peeps, I have been using a regular bike on virtual shifting for a few weeks now so decided to put my single speed on there (no more accidental manual changes). So, it has 48T on the front with a 16T on the rear. I have a Tacx Neo 2T (firmware updated), the play controllers (firmware updated) are a very tight fit over double layers of bartape but that’s my setup.
The gear changing works fine, it’s all very smooth and quiet BUT every now and then the resistance changes on it’s own, it doesn’t change gear (no change on current screen gear). It’s very wierd, but I can feel the resistance drop or rise slightly, just like changing gear.
What the heck is going on? It doesn’t do it when my other bike is on there, so it’s either the gearing or maybe the play controllers being too tight? I’m baffled.
Did you change any of the gearing? From Sequential to Sram or from Mixed Terrain to any of the other options?…it was working for me before but i wonder when i tested last week with different options that something is now buggy as i also don’t feel that much gradient changes.
I have noticed this weird resistance changes myself…but it’s for a split second that resistance drops and it comes back. It’s like the game is checking for your gearing ratio and drops to gear 8 for a split second and back up to same resistance. I was thinking the it might be related to BT Drop but i checked my dual recordings and there are not drops of power or flat (Sticky Watts) that would happen when connection is dropped.
FYI i use Giant TCR and i don’t think it’s bike related.
I’m on a TREK road bike and a new KickR Core v2 and I get this as well. It was really noticeable doing the climb of the week yesterday.
