Zwift Video File with 0 Byte - Windows PC [November 2023]

Hardware list needs to be updated to include Ryzen 9 ai hx370. If a 10th gen i3 can manage it the AMD definitely can

It may not be a hardware problem. If youā€™re running Windows 11 24H2 that might be the issue. A few of us have reported video screenshots going AWOL following the update. No comment from Zwift after several days.

Iā€™m running Intel i9 and RTX 4070 and my videos have gone, replaced by zero byte files instead of actual video clips.

Same here, frustrating and it seems like there is no help to get from Zwift either

This has been reported many times, perhaps you should merge all threads and push this up. 117 error on update to 180 yesterday so clearly there is still an issue since the noted Windows update for some of us.

Okay Iā€™m not the only one, my last video was on december 12th, and from the 13th onwards until today they are all with 0kb.

Just posting here to say that both of my Windows machines have had this same problem since updating Windows. Subscribing to this topic in hopes of seeing a reply from Zwiftā€¦

Video capture isnt working for me, it was working, now it isnā€™t did you get yours to work?

Same for me, video capture used to work, now only photoā€™s get saved and get 0 bytes mp4 video files.

Iā€™m following this with interest as I have the same problem . The video clips use to make ideal ā€œReelsā€ on FB in the past .

Hi all, Iā€™m writing to acknowledge the reports of this issue by the Zwift team ā€“ Weā€™re collecting reports from affected customers and are looking into it. Weā€™ll post back when we have further updates to share.

I recently upgraded my Zwift PC and am now running Windows 11 Home, version 24H2 on a PC that supports the Zwift video capturing. However, the video clips that are saved have zero size or content. I have checked my Zwift settings and all looks good. I have opened a Zwift support ticket but I have just gotten bounced around and have had no progress on a resolution. Does anyone have any resolution suggestions? Thanks

The Zwift log file shows the following error.

[5:43:49] Got Notable Moment: NEW PR!

[5:43:49] [VIDEO_CAPTURE] Initiating delayed save after notable moment, delay = 4.000000

[5:43:49] Got Notable Moment: SET A TIME

[5:43:49] Requesting Notable Moment Screenshot, type=NEW PR!, delay=5.00, distance=1958.87

[5:43:55] ERROR LEVEL: [VIDEO_CAPTURE] WindowsFailure, 1 of 10, reasons=[ā€œSaveMovieWriter: CreateSinkWriter failedā€, ā€œSaveMovie: reader or writer failedā€, ā€œEncoder: SaveMovie failedā€, ā€œVCW_StateMachine: Encoder failedā€]

This problem is the result of the last Windows update. I reported the problem 2 months ago and Zwift just recently acknowledged the reports people have been making since. Hopefully that means they are finally looking into the issue, but I suspect that they donā€™t have a lot of development resources so who knows when we might have a resolution (and itā€™s possible that itā€™s a Windows bug that Microsoft will have to fix).

Iā€™m having this issue, too! Started after Dec. 20th for me (which is the very day I updated to Windows 11, version 24H2. I probably rode first and updated the computer later in the evening). I have a HP Pavilion gaming laptop with AMD RIZEN 7. The videos are 0 bytes on my computer and donā€™t show up at all on my phone, even though I do video capture through the button on the companion app while riding. Won some epic sprints today and quite gutted to not have the footage to relive it and show it off on Strava!

P.S. My Zwift is updated to the most recent version: v 1.81.2
