I’m not getting riders showing up on the right hand side, or in the companion app during the new zwift unlocked New York stages.

I noticed the list ‘ebbing’ and ‘flowing’ in days prior to @Paul_Southworth ‘s comment. It wasn’t a complete absence of entries on the list, the list just emptied several times during a two-hour ride. I also noticed rider avatars ‘poof’ing off the screen, leaving me all alone in the subway LOL. I just assumed the new route(s) were heavily loaded with riders and the system(s) couldn’t keep up.
When riders disappear that is generally a network problem somewhere between your game device and the Zwift servers. The riders nearby list will also disappear when that happens. It is possible for resource exhaustion on the device to cause intermittent network problems, but it would have to be very hammered. More often it’s poor WiFi, a router that needs rebooting, spotty Internet access, etc.
My iPAD has been struggling a bit with Zwift from the beginning, but it manifests more as crashes/restarts than laggy, jittery, or poor performance. My internal LAN and BT are rock-solid; but the other side of the gateway is … anybody’s guess. LOL
Which model of iPad do you have? Settings → General → About should tell you
6th generation 32GB running iPadOS 17.7.8. (15.31 GB available; I have everything imaginable stopped / disabled as if Zwift was the only thing the machine is used for.) Again, it mostly works.
That device has 2GB RAM, and there were many reports of both iPad and Apple TV HD devices with 2GB RAM crashing prior to game version 1.100. @rowdy said a fix was included in 1.100
I appreciate the heads-up. I can’t say that I blame anybody for such a behemoth app struggling in a somewhat old device. Kinda like me - it does ok for its age. LOL Hard to imagine it being a ‘bug’ unless there’s a memory leak or a nonsensical loading of superfluous resources.
To be fair, there does seem to be a reduction in the crashes since the last game update, but not elimination.
He hasn’t fiddled with enough nobs!!! still wasn’t working today. All the riders are on the watopia maps.

Thanks for sharing this. Based on the screenshot and some other reports, this only seems to be affecting the Zwifters Nearby List in some parts of New York. You should still be able to see other rider avatars if they are nearby. The issue with the Zwifters Nearby List is set to be addressed in a coming update.
