Zwift Smart Frame with Apple TV

I’ve already got a Zwift Hub, and I’ve just ordered the Smart Frame, but just want to check how I’ll best connect everything using Apple TV.

With Zwift Hub one Bluetooth channel can broadcast cadence, power, and controllable, but don’t ask me how my HR monitor (Wahoo Tickr) seems to be connected via the Zwift Hub so it seems like I still have a spare channel to connect the bike controllers.

Does that make sense or am I going to have to use the Campanion App as a bridge?

As a Kickr Core user I also would like to know how to connect the Zwift Ride Frame to AppleTV.
Eric Schlange commented in his article (Zwift Hardware News: Frame-Only Zwift Ride Now Shipping, Increased Hardware Availability + More | Zwift Insider):

But I´m not sure if he´s right. How do I connect my HRM and the Play Controllers at the same time? I count three connections needed plus the remote. And as we all know AppleTV only has two connections available.

Can you not use your Kickr Core as a bridge for your HRM?

I don´t think the Kickr Core can do this. But the Zwift Hub can, so your setup should be fine.

Hi @Steve_Fry_R_K, congrats on the new bike! Your setup does allow for you to pair to Apple TV over native bluetooth.

  • Those green connection icons in your screenshot confirm that your heart rate monitor has been bridged to your Hub. Therefore, Power, Resistance, Cadence, and Heart Rate are all paired under one bluetooth connection.
  • The Zwift Ride controllers are bridged to each other, therefore both your left and right Zwift Ride controllers are paired under the other bluetooth connection.

Just as a disclaimer, Apple TV is limited to 3 connections, with the Siri Remote always taking priority as 1 of those 3. If you happen to take up any of those bluetooth connections before you open Zwift (e.g. something like headphones), then you would have difficulty getting both of those connections to happen in Zwift.

Thanks Rowdy. Any chance at all a future software/firmware update might mean the Play Controllers (not Ride) can also bridge through each other rather than need 2 seperate connections?

I’m all set up. Works like a dream. Thanks.
