Zwift Ride v2 Frame Install Tips 2026 (setup with original Kickr Core)

I just assembled my new Zwift Ride v2 with Kicker Core and am sharing a few tips that were not evident in the quick guide or install videos. It was not the hardest assembly but definitely not easy. Tips are geared towards folks who’ve never setup a Zwift Ride and others like me who are not skilled in bike maintenance:

Cassette Removal from Kickr Core: had a shimano altus 11-32 cassette on the Kickr Core; removing it and the freehub took some effort; used a chain whip and lockring tool; the included wrench was not useful initially until we got the cassette off; then we could use it to get the nut/piece holding the freehub on and remove the freehub.

Adapters: Needed adapters that go on where the frame will attach in back came w/my original Kickr Core; adapters as described in the user manual worked; look for the wahoo page “Set-up-your-KICKR-CORE-smart-trainer;” the pictures also help figure out which way the one adapater (142,148mm) attaches

Cog v2: the tips and Zwift videos about keeping it on setting #1 were helpful; the cog sits flush in the back when it is installed properly; this was not evident in any of the zwift videos

Thru Axle: when you turn it using the key, you need to push in a bit, so it engages properly and the thru axle screws moves toward he other side

Pedals: turning direction was initially confusing; there are stickers on the pedals and the crank which were helpful

Handlebar: relatively straightforward; needed to loosen the middle part on the handle so it could continue to move on the track.

USB-A on controller cable: it was not initially obvious that it didn’t need plugging in; the ZWIFT article entitled " Charging Your Zwift Ride " was helpful

Seat Post: this was the BIGGEST issue

--the seat post came set at the lowest position and did not budge at all despite loosening and removing the back screw;

- looked for tips from other users;

-tried wiggling the post front and back, but it did not budge;

-used a soft-headed mallet and gently tapped on the back near the saddle – nothing happened;

-used a soft-headed mallet and gently tapped on the FRONT – it dislodged and could be easily lifted up

-tested whether it was fixed permanently or these steps may need to be repeated: lowered the seat post again and it became unmovable; it dislodged after using soft headed mallet again; I set the seat at a specific height and tightened the bolt

-a few people tried to move it; we’re thinking this may be a manufacturing defect vs an issue that arose during shipping;

-I wonder if the screw that holds the bottle holder be in the way or something inside further down that’s metal? It was very unmovable without a tap of a mallet.
