Mounting Zwift Ride on Kickr Core

I’ve just bought a Zwift Ride to use with a Kickr Core I purchased in early 2022. I’ve installed the Zwift Hub v2 (the orange one) and 142mm / drive side adapter. Mounted the Zwift Ride and successfully tightened the thru-axle. All looks the same as the set-up videos.

However the Zwift Ride is not rigid on the trainer (especially on the drive side) and wobbles as if the mounts are not securely attached, although does lift off the trainer. Sideways movement is about 5cm of the saddle, just by pushing with my hand (so not just happening when s

Saw this post about frame not fitting correctly, thought I’d share in case it helps…

Hi @John_Painter1 welcome to Zwift forums.

Please verify the Ride frame dropouts are squared up with the trainer. If the front of the bike isn’t aimed straight ahead, or if the frame is leaning over to right/left, it’s easy for that thru axle to feel like it’s fully tightened, but may not be.

Hi I have got a question Is the adapter included if you decide to buy only the frame?

Thank you for the responses  I’ve got my frame secured now, I dismantled and reassembled the Zwift Cog and now working well (guessing I didn’t install it properly the first time around). So if you’re installing the Zwift Cog on an existing trainer take care (or at least be less ham fisted than I was)

My Zwift Ride frame didn’t have the adapters however the ones you need might have been provided with your smart trainer (they were for my Kickr Core that I bought a couple of years ago).

If not you can order replacements from Wahoo for about £30

My zwift ride frame wont fit into the kickr hub. Its too tight, really to tight… ive tried to expand the frame so it will be larger and fit into the hubs but damn… nothing close like the video i saw , ive used the C + D adapter but seem like my frame hasnt been build wide enought. He dont seem damage too.
Kinda desperate… just received that today and got no idea what i can do here.

Hi @Stephane_Poirier_JZQ
Shuji at Zwift HQ here.

The Ride frame uses a 142 mm spacing. It sounds like the left (non-drivetrain side) might be using the adapter for a 148 mm frame?

Please make sure your trainer has the correct axle adapters installed. When you say KICKR Hub - do you mean the Zwift Hub trainer that Zwift sold until earlier this year? If that’s the case - you may want to contact Zwift Support to verify that the correct spacers are installed. Please include photos - they will help a great deal to see what’s happening.

If you meant a trainer made by Wahoo - please also check that the non-drrivetrain adapter is oriented correctly for 142 mm spacing.

What was the solution?

Recently, I got the Zwift Ride with the Kickr Core package. The Kickr Core came with the earlier cog already installed, so I replaced it with the V2 (orange) cog that I also received.

However, the supplied thru axle would not engage with the non-drive side dropout and screw in to tighten. I followed some of the advice above, making sure the Zwift Ride was straight ahead and not tilted left or right. I tried many times to get it to engage (slightly adjusting the rear dropouts in different ways by holding it from the above)

I was about to give up and contact Zwift Support when, as a last resort, I applied some Park bike grease to the threads of the axle and tried again. The threads of the axle engaged immediately with the non-drive side dropout, and I was able to tighten it fully. The problem (thankfully) was solved. Worth a try if you are having the same problem.
