Zwift Ride Smart Frame now available [September 2024]

Since few months ago?

You might have to specify more than EU. I’m in EU and I bought it already (frame only)

“Out of stock” - I order today Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE :frowning:
Although I would prefer only Zwift Ride Smart Frame.

Yes. The good old “buy a new trainer exactly like the one you own, but with a newer firmware”
Even more ridiculous is the naming of that “new” trainer … it is called Elite Direto XR and have the exact same specs.

In the case of the Elite Direto XR though, Elite have confirmed that a firmware update is coming for existing owners, allowing them to use Zwift virtual shifting.

This is what I got from Elite. If they have the new trainer ready then why do they not provide the firmware update for the new trainer? It is the same trainer. Only reason for that is to have a window to sell the “new” trainer for a few months and thereby punishing existing customers. For me it is bye bye Elite. I liked the Direto XR but I am not going to wait until the “end of the year”. That is just lazy and arrogant. They mount a Zwift Coq and click to an existing trainer and by magic they produced a new product and could not care about existing customers.

“ at the moment just Direto XR Cog and Click is compatible with Zwift Ride.
Direto XR and Direto XR-T are currently not compatible with Zwift Ride as they don’t support virtual shifting (i.e. the Zwift Cog and Click).
However, a firmware update to make Direto XR and Direto XR-T upgradable to support virtual shifting (Zwift Cog and Click Upgrade Kit) is scheduled towards the end of the year. So once the firmware will be released, you just need to upgrade the firmware of your trainer and the trainer can be used with the Zwift Ride.”

Well, given the problems with Virtual Shifting that the Kickrs are experiencing, maybe they want to make sure that they get it right. Who knows, it could be something fundamentally wrong with how Zwift have implemented it.

Still does not make sense to have two identical trainers. Only difference is the Zwift Coq and click. If the firmware works on one it would be very strange if it is not working on the other.
I was not aware that there were issues with the kickr core. Maybe I should just stayed away from this first iteration.

hello there, zwift frame not been delivered, who i contact and how?

Just like Wahoo Kickrs… v5 v6 and soon v7 (afaik these vX indicators aren’t actually printed on the trainers). But I agree, they should have named it the XR-Z since it comes with the Zwift cog.

Above states that the Cog V2 comes the Zwift Ride, yet when I go to select the bundled package of Zwift Ride and Kickr Core Zwift One in the Shop, it clearly states that its the Cog V1. Please advise. Thanks!

If you buy a standalone Zwift Ride then it comes with a Cog v2.

If you buy the bundle witha Kickr Core then it comes with a Cog v1 pre- installed onto the Kickr Core. I’m guessing that once they sell out of all those Cores with the v1 Cog then the Cores will get the v2 Cog.

There really isn’t any reason much to order the bundle (maybe there’s a break on shipping cost?).

In the US anyway, the bundle is the same price as for the Ride frame (which includes supposedly a V2 Cog) + Kickr Core (pick your flavor - with a cassette or with an additional backup V2 Cog + Click)

Hi @Alan_Posner, and welcome back to the forums! Alejandro here from Zwift. Appreciate you used this space to post your inquiry, and it’ll be a pleasure to answer your question.

In this case, you are correct; if you purchase the Zwift Ride Smart Frame, the included Zwift Cog is a V2, however, if you purchase the Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE, the pre-installed Cog is a V1. There is nothing to worry about since, in terms of functionality, both are the same and were designed to work with the Zwift Ride.

Here, you can check this article about the Zwift Cog comparison.

If there is anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate to write us at support@zwift.com.

Hi Alejandro, my understanding outstide of functionality is that the V2 cog is quieter. I live in an NYC apartment and quiet is very important. I’ve been using a Kickr Snap for 8 years and my downstairs neighbors have never complained. I want to keep that going. Also, I’d prefer to have the most recent technolgy. So I wanted to make sure if buying the trainer and Smart Frame separately, in the end, I have the same working unit.

Hi @AlejandroC , please, if I purchase the “Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE” is the same thing to purchase the “Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE” and the “Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One” separate?
I mean, in both cases I will have the same equipments?

@Pedro_Tedde.

Hello and welcome to the Forums! My name is Haziel, and I’m part of the Zwift Support team. Thank you so much for reaching out with your question regarding the Zwift Ride.

I want to clarify that if you decide to purchase the “Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE,” you will receive the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One as part of the package. While it’s possible to buy the trainer separately, please consider the bundle since it offers a discount.

Also, there are other bundles available, like the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One that comes with the Zwift Play or one that includes a year’s membership. These options might be worth exploring, for more information you can check the article Zwift Ride FAQ
