Zwift Ride set up

Hi Just bought a zwift ride - without the wahoo kicker as already have it. The Kickr already has a Zwift cog yet when I unpacked the frame there was a zwift cog included. Do I need to swap cogs?

You may want to put on the new one, I think they made some changes to the design so it could a version 2?

No, you don’t need to swap the cogs. However, as said, there is a newer version. If they both look the same, then no need to change. If the new one is orange and black then your choice on when or whether to swap, the old one will work for the moment but the new one has some nice improvements to make it quieter.

New cog installed - really quiet now - love my new toy. Thanks for advice

Is there a guide as to how to replace the cog v1 (black) with the cog v2 (orange)? My Kickr Core came in assembled with the cog v1 but no idea how to uninstall and install the cog v2

The cog is just a cassette with a single sprocket

See video Paul just sent, its very easy but you’ll need a chain whip

Hi @Olivier_Van_de_Velde,
I’m Fernanda, from Zwift.

I wanted to share some help and show you this video where you can see how to remove the freehub body from the Zwift Cog v1 (black one) that comes pre-installed, and once removed it you can follow this video for guidance in how to install the Zwift cog v2.

I hope this helps you with more specific steps and you achieve your assemble!

Keep us posted.

Thank you kindly!

What if I wanted to uninstall the cog v1 (which you already perfectly answered for) and install a Shimano non-HG 11-speed cassette (a Shimano Ultegra CS-R8000 11/28 11 speed). Is that possible with the current installed freehub which came with the Zwift Ride with Kickr Core package? Is everything included in the packages or do I need to buy anything extra other than an extra cassette?

My Zwift Ride frame got damaged while transport and still awaiting for Zwift support so I think I will try and install a cassette so I can at least bike indoor with my real bike while waiting

Yes that will work fine. The cog is installed on an 11 speed Hyperglide freehub. No spacers are required for 11 or 12 speed cassettes on that. Derailleur adjustment may still be necessary though.

Interesting. So a non-HG cassette (CS-R8000 11/28t 11 speed) should fit onto HG freehub without any spacers?

Spacers should only be needed for 7-10 speed cassettes on that freehub
