Zwift Ride issue

Hello, I am contacting you because I am having a problem with my Zwift Ride set-up. Everything was going well until my last training session, when I used ERG mode. Since then, in simulation mode, changing gear no longer has any impact on the difficulty of the course; it is as if ERG mode were always activated. I can pedal as much as I like and shift up to 24th gear, it makes no difference. However, unless I’m mistaken, in free mode the default “simulation” mode is supposed to activate. If I start a training session, the gears work properly and I can activate/deactivate the ERG. Could you please help me? Thanks in advance.

Hi @Olivier_Mesa

Hello and welcome to the Forums! This is Haziel from Zwift Support.

I truly appreciate you reaching out to share your concerns about the ERG mode. I understand how important it is for your workouts to run smoothly, so I want to provide you with the information you need.

Firstly, please keep in mind that ERG mode is designed for workouts, while SIM mode is available for free rides.

You can disable and enable Erg mode from the workout browser screen by toggling the “Use Erg Mode” button. But you won’t see this option if you simply choose your workout from the workout collections when Zwift starts up.

You can also turn it on or off during your workout by clicking the up arrow, clicking your mouse near the bottom-middle of your screen, or swiping up from the bottom of the screen. This will bring up the action bar, which includes a button for turning Erg on and off.

Additionally, the Companion app has a handy button for switching the ERG on and off while you ride.

If you’re experiencing issues related to resistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Hello Haziel,
First of all, thank you for your reply.
Even though I generally ride at events or in free mode, I understand that ERG mode is intended for training.
In this mode, there is no problem, everything works perfectly.
To make sure, I did another specific training session.
During this, I can perfectly activate/deactivate the ERG mode and change the speeds and this has a good effect on the resistance.
The problem is in free mode and for events. The speed change is done well, the speeds change from 1 to 24, but there is no change in the resistance, it is as if it were a single speed.
It seems to me that other people have reported the same problem, or equivalent problems in other subjects.
I suppose it must be a software or hardware problem related to the cog, but it is quite restrictive and severely limits the use of Zwift Ride.

I am facing the same issues and have created a thread as well and also send a support request, but there was no reaction from zwift yet…

Hi @Markus_Pro, welcome back to the forums! This is Monica from the Zwift team. I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing the same issues with the Zwift Ride and ERG mode. I’ve located your ticket, but I recommend checking your spam folder for the email we sent you.

After reviewing your account, I noticed that you’re using ANT+ to connect your trainer. Please keep in mind that using both ANT+ and BLE for connections can cause interference, which may lead to issues with simulating resistance. To resolve this, please connect all your devices using either BLE or the Zwift Companion app as a bridge.

I hope you find this information helpful. If the issue persists, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Hi Monica, thanks for looking it up. You are right, I found the response in my spam folder. I apologize! I will respond to this email afterwards.

I cannot confirm that I am using ANT+. When pairing with Zwift it definitely shows that my trainer is connected using Bluetooth/BLE. I just doublechecked. I also tried the bridge mode with my windows laptop and the Zwift Companion app which results into the same behavior.
