I am thinking of buying the zwift ride to go with my Elite direto x which i have updated to the latest firmware to work with the bike. There is currently no elite specific zwift go upgade kits which i asume i need as the one that comes with the ride is the 14 tooth version. Could i use it as it is with the 14 tooth or change the cog myself with the following link (Zwift Cog Sprocket / Chain Ring – WTRL. It says i need the non freehub version for my elite train, it says Single Speed Sprocket
Freehub Not Included with the zwift gog thats included with the ride so i am asuming this will work but hoping someone could confirm.
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Elite’s trainers have a relatively high resistance floor compared to other brands that some people feel is too much resistance.
The 18 tooth Zwift Cog mitigates this by providing a lower physical gear ratio than the 14 tooth. The physical gearing x the virtual gearing range settings might be easy enough for you to pedal at low RPMs. My suggestion is to try the 14 tooth variant before you go out and spend money you didn’t need to.
FYI - WTRL is based in Canada and is a handy (read: duty-free) source of Zwift items in Canada where the Zwift Shop does not have presence. Keep an eye on the UK Zwift Shop for when the 18 tooth variant of the Zwift Cog for Elite trainers returns to stock OR email my Support team colleagues to ask if they might know a restock date.
