Hi - I have a new Zwift Ride. I have used it for rides with Robopacers, one race, and a couple of structured workouts. The cadence sensor seems to be off. It can seem very accurate, then jump to aroundu 120, then return to a more normal cadence. My firmware is up to date. Any suggestions?
The Zwift Ride doesn’t have a cadence sensor, it’s only a plastic frame.
I’m sorry for not being more clear. I bought a Zwift Ride bike and a KIKR Core bundle. The cadence, as I describe above, can sometimes seem very accurate, then suddenly jump to 120ish, then return to a more normal reading. It’s confounding.
I would try also monitoring cadence with the Wahoo app to see if the same values are being sent there as well.
Also, for some trainers, at low wattages (eg. less than 70w or so) cadence measuring becomes more unreliable. Not sure if this is when you’re seeing the wild swings?
Most trainers, including the Kickr Core, don’t have a cadence sensor. So the cadence reading they send to Zwift is just an estimate based on small power fluctuations as you turn the pedals. Depending on your pedalling style and all sorts of other factors this can range between being quite accurate and being wildly off.
So what you’re seeing sounds normal. If you want reliable cadence data then you’ll need to buy a separate cadence sensor and pair that separately to Zwift.
I use Garmin RS200 Dual sided pedals which measure Cadence more accurately than my Zwift Hub One.
Thanks everyone for the responses. I’ve decided to get an inexpensive cadence sensor to affix to the crank arm. It seems like the cheapest and easiest solution.
Loved that I had a question and the Zwift community took the time to help. Very cool!
