Cadence hassles

Hi guys

I got a Zwift Ride with a Wahoo kicker core 2 and since day one it’s had issues with the cadence.

When I’m riding at a cadence of 90-100 it will show on the Zwift screen a cadence of 50± or 140-150 then back to the real cadence of 90-100 this can go on for anything close to a minute. Generally it’s all done in less than ten seconds.

I got on to the retailer and finely they sent me a new Wahoo, which I got today. After putting it together and connecting it to my Zwift ride I did a test ride. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:same issues:confounded_face::confounded_face:

So have I been given another Wahoo that is crap or is this a normal thing for Wahoo and Zwift? Or is it my ability to put the moz* on everything.

John

*moz. Australian slang term meaning everything you touch is f***ed

Zwift simply reports whatever cadence your trainer reports, so it’s your trainer that’s outputting incorrect cadence data.

However, almost all trainers simply estimate cadence based on power fluctuations, and don’t actually measure it. So it can sometimes be inaccurate.

The fact that this has happened on two different trainers would indicate to me that these fluctuations are probably down to your own pedalling style.

You’ll need to buy a cadence sensor if you want totally accurate cadence data.

could it be the trainer doing its auto-calibration thing?
