Thanks, not what I wanted to hear but thanks… ![]()
Yep, same hare
But you fixed yours with an external dongle without an extension cable…? I agree you shouldn’t need to do that but that worked…?
Yes that worked, works fine now
That’s weird, good but weird..
This is the answer I’ve seen from various people using non-Tacx trainers as well, when they switch to virtual shifting. I don’t know why but anyone who wants to ride should try it.
Added a TP-Link ub500 plus bluetooth dongle to my pc and the trainer seems to be working fine during a short test.
I’ve had 2 outages since adding the BE Card. Both were on the climb portals.
Gave zwift a session last night, virtual shifting on the 2T, race mode on, zero issues up the climb portal nor on the champs Elysees race
Same for me. No issues since updating my 2T to latest firmware neither with Zwift Play, Virtual Shifting, Click and even with the TACX Alpine everything connected over BT.
Another ride earlier, the zwift crit around the volcano and no issues, the virtual shifting is great ![]()
Quick question:
Does the Zwift Multi-Trainer Cog work with the Tacx Neo 2T, or is it necessary to use the specific Elite & Garmin Tacx Cog (which appears to be unavailable)?
Thanks in advance!
The multi-trainer version has 14 teeth and is mounted on a freehub that can’t be used on a Tacx trainer. The Elite & Garmin version has 18 teeth and is not mounted on a freehub body. On the Tacx trainers, it is OK to use the 14 tooth cog, whereas the Elite trainers need the 18 tooth cog to achieve low Watts at a reasonable cadence. So you can order the multi-trainer version, and remove it from the freehub body using a Shimano Hyperglide lockring tool and a chain whip, then install it on your Tacx freehub. If you don’t have those tools or don’t want to buy them, you could take the Cog and the trainer to a bike shop and they can install it for you in about a minute.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had the same issue as me. I saw the offer for the Zwift cog now being available for the Tacx neo 2T, so I bought one. It said I had to update my firmware to the latest version to work which I did and cycled before installing the cog. I found the update had totally screwed up the cadence recording with it bouncing all over the place.
I contacted Garmin who have been helpful and ask me to send them some recorded sessions and then gave me a link to downgrade my firmware back to the previous version (I couldn’t do this myself off the app) and my trainer was fixed. They asked me to upload the same workouts now to show them. I have chased them today as I’ve heard nothing in over a week. I have Zwift cog I can’t use (and play controller I also bought). I’ve told Zwift too, but well past the return window now officially.
As an aside in asking me to diagnose the problem they asked me to photograph my set up and had suggested removing the rocker plate as the tacx isn’t designed to be used on one😳 - I pointed out it worked fine in the rocker before, others use a rocker no problem and anyway the downgrade fixed the issue.
I can’t believe I’m the only one experiencing this surely?
This update was quite annoying and the email “upgrade your trainer” a bit misleading. I got a Tacx Neo T2800 and it is not compatible with the swift Click, so I wasted the 50 Euros on it. I thought T2800 is the same as T2. How should I know the differences between all those names.
Garmin homepage, support, Tacx Neo and Tacx Neo 2. Google knows too, what the difference is.
Yes, exactly, you are making the point. I don’t have the Neo2, I have the Neo T2800, which is like 10 years old. Sounds like Neo 2T but is something completely else. And the email was written like my Trainer and ALL Tacx Neo trainers are capable of using the Zwift click, but they are not.
I don’t know which e-mail you mean, but afaik it was always mentioned Tacx Neo 2, 2T and 3M are compatible with virtual shifting:
What Tacx Trainers Are Compatible With Virtual Shifting?
NOTE: This feature requires the latest software on your trainer. See How Do I Update the Software on My Tacx Smart Trainer? for instructions to update your trainer.
-
Tacx® NEO 2
-
Tacx® NEO 2T
-
Tacx® NEO 3M
FYI - yours T2800 is the first generation:
Tacx Neo (1st gen): T2800
Tacx Neo 2 Smart: T2850i
Tacx Neo 2T Smart: T2875
Tacx Neo 3M Smart: 010-02808-60 (This is a Garmin part number, as Garmin now owns Tacx, but it is often used as the primary identifier.)
I am using an Aliexpress generic BT5.4 dongle which is more expansive in terms of number of BT device connections as it can maintain connections with up to seven devices in a network, ideal for managing multiple Bluetooth connections on Zwift (cadence, power, Zwift Click, power, HRM).
My PC suffered from the “weak” Bluetooth issue so I went this way and it has been rock solid for the Ride setup with then Kickr Core, and now NEO 2T.
I have just received my Cog2 + Click to put onto my Tacx Neo 2 Smart. Usually I am miserable but here I would like to compliment BOTH Zwift and Garmin (with a small caveat)
- The Cog2 and Click arrived in three days. Perfectly packaged with clear instructions on how to fit the Cog2 and connect the Clicks. Quality of products excellent. But note I had ticked Neo 2 on the order,…..for the Neo 2Smart,….you provided the free wheel hub which was not compatible, so I used my original Tacx Shimao which worked perfectly. The Cog2 is well designed
- Click 2- again two well designed and presented control pads. They connected perfectly with the Tacx and the upgraded version of Zwift.
- Garmin, dont laugh, but with Tacx I had so many problems with the Tacx Utilities upgrades on PC, that I stopped updating for years. In upgrading for the Cog and Play,…..I found that I could load the upgrade via my iPhone and Bluetooth. Easy and seamless. So so much better thankyou Garmin.
Overall am pleased with the Cog2+Click purchase and application and the Garmin software upgrades. HOWEVER, Zwift can you please release a RIDE2 where we can use our full range of Hometrainers including the Tacx Neo 2 Smart, the 2SE and the 3M ,…..I am sure also there are other brands which are incompatible due to the chain tensioner being too far forward!
