Zwift on Android. Reviews?

Hey guys,

I used to use zwift quite a lot a few years ago on my laptop, which i no longer have access to. I have been using Rouvy on my adroid phone which is ok, but not quite the same experience.

I notice Zwift now has an android app but a google search has shown mixed reviews. If any of you guys are android app users i would love to hear your opinions and or advice.

Thanks in advance guys.

The experience depends on your phone and your individual setup. Why not just download it and give it a go?

I haven’t tried Zwift on any other platform other than Android so can’t compare experiences, but for me the Android version works very well.

I have a Mate 20 Pro connected to a monitor via USB-C to HDMI and generally have had no issues. There’s the odd bit of frame rate drop when there are a lot of riders on screen but this isn’t too often. I use a dumb trainer with speed and cadence sensors connected via bluetooth - neither of these have dropped out or disconnected during a ride.

Overall pretty happy with it, and will probably keep going with it while the weather is bad (which in the UK is nearly all the time).

I’ve been using the Android version for quite a while now, on various tablets.
Sometimes I’ll cast it to the TV over wifi, which works quite well, only a slight delay.

I do have a PC for Zwift as well, and with an upgrade yesterday it runs Zwift well in Ultra. Yes, it looks much better on the PC (now), but I find the tablet more convenient, as I have a DIY stand for it within easy reach.
The PC is really just for races, when a Bluetooth dropout might cause things to be flung out of windows - I do get the occasional power sensor dropout with the Android version, so ANT+ on the PC works better for me there.

I did use it with my phone once, as a workaround for some issue on my tablet at the time, and it ran fine, but the small screen and an issue with the specific phone and casting to the TV made it a poor experience. With a better phone, or a USB-C to HDMI cable your experience would probably be better.

Zwift as you probably know has two apps.

One to run the main game and one to use as the companion.

I use a PC to run the main application which casts the screen to my garage with a Chromecast.

I use the Android companion app though to connect all my sensors including smart trainer (power & control), Garmin Cadence sensor and Garmin HRM.

The companion app has worked flawlessly since I started on Zwift despite my fairly janky setup

Hi:

I searched and most of the post about Android supported devices are closed or does not exist.

I would like to know if Zwift is supported on the Nokia 6.2 (no the Nokia 6, the Nokia 6.2, since the 6 is supersed by the 6.1 and the 6.1 by the 6.2), before buying it.

Could someone tell me if it has tried on it.

The Zwift supports just told me: Ask it on the forums or look for it on Google Play.

I can’t look for it, since I don’t own the device.

If someone could help me, please.

Is yours the 3GB or 4GB model?

I want to buy the 64 GB model

The minimum requirements are:

  1. arm64-v8a ABI (Arm64 architecture)
  2. 1 GB of RAM minimum. We highly recommend 2+ GB.
  3. OpenGL ES 3.0 or higher
  4. Android 7.0 or higher. [We dropped support for 6.0 on Jan 15, 2020]

Your new phone has 3 or 4GB ram and snapdragon 636 and meets all of the above. Should be ok

Thanks.

I had doubts about OpenGL ES and about the processor.
