Zwift disconnecting from companion app

Hello,
For the last year I’ve successfully used the companion app as a Bluetooth bridge and it’s been rock steady. But in the last few weeks it’s become extremely flaky especially during a ride involving ERG mode, so bad I’ve had to switch back to pair my windows 10 direct.
I did a limited test this evening and had no issues pairing with my iPad.
Are there any issues with Android companion app?
Thanks.

Hello @Sean_GPG

Shuji at Zwift HQ here.

The Companion app and the main Zwift app “see” each other over your WiFi network, not over Bluetooth. When that connection gets flaky, it’s almost always caused by WiFi disruptions on your local network. If you have issues with your WiFi more broadly, your phone might be automatically cutting over to cell data in the background, and that will cause this sort of flakiness. You can prevent your phone from doing that in its OS settings.

The easiest fix to try is rebooting your cable modem and WiFi router.
While you’re waiting for the router to power up - reboot the computer / tablet / Apple TV running the main app as well as the smartphone running ZC.

There are other common root causes on our Support site. Please read through those if a simple router reboot doesn’t solve it, and let us know what happens?

Hi Shuji,
I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly, I’ll try your resolution steps later in the week before my next ride.
