Zwift crashes on startup on Mac Sonoma

Hi,

I’m new to Zwift and wanted to do my first ride today on my MacBook with Sonoma 14.1.1.
Once I click “Let’s go”, the Mac freezes and crashes a few seconds later. Looks like a serious thing here.

I looked at the forum to find similar issues, but looks like there is no real solution. Any help or support from Zwift? Thank you very much

Probably best to contact support directly. I’ve run it on two up to date Sonoma macs with no issues (M1 MacBook Pro and M3 MacBook Air).

Hi Paul, thanks for your quick reply. Do you know how can I contact them directly? I couldn’t find it yet  Best

Go to support.zwift.com and click on the Contact Us link. It’s rather buggy so if that doesn’t work just email support@zwift.com and hope for the best

Try launching the Zwiftapp_silicon directly instead of using the launcher… it opens a terminal window where you might be able to see some debug info.

Hey BooX, thanks a lot, but I’m running on an Intel (from 2019)

Ah !..

You might still be able to launch the non silicon app directly and see some output in the terminal window… and of course check the log and launcher log ( only if Zwift Support don’t get you further )

Hi @Thierry_Krummenacher welcome to Zwift forums.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Is your machine a “Hackintosh” running an OS version newer than it was originally capable of running? The reason I ask is that Zwift will not run on Intel-based Mac hardware incompatible with the Apple Metal graphics API.

Mentioned above, it’s a 2019 machine so it must support the Metal API. Nothing that new should have that problem.

Ah - missed that bit.

@Thierry_Krummenacher we’ll need more detailed information about your particular machine (i.e. gather game logs and maybe OS system logs from your end) to dig for clues, which you’ve already sent in to my Support colleagues.

I also see that Erick has been working with you via email - please continue those discussions.

Thanks for the follow-up, it’s appreciated. I’ll continue with Erick and hopefully this will allow us to find a solution. I must admit it’s a bit unexpected for a 200€/y application, but at least the support is quick

Well… I just had a $40.000,-/3 year application that disabled all user logins randomly( including admin ) due to a bug, which wasn’t discovered before I reported it - so guess Zwift is ok’ish :thinking:
