Zwift companion race outcome

How can you win a 10km run on Zwift if you don’t complete the full distance (only running 9.74km)?

Late start?

Cheers Paul.

The answer is because it’s not a race. The event is not set up as a race, it’s a group run. If you notice the difference in icons on the events page in companion app.

I recently added the option to show finishing results as it allows people an easy way to track their progress and also allows me to monitor participant numbers and participant details.

Gun La late joined today so hence the reason as he finished he hadn’t actually run the full distance but was first to the finish line which is a set point. You don’t get a separate finish line if you late join, everybody gets the same finish line.
If it was set as a race there would be no late join.

My event is not about being first, the fastest or anything competitive. It’s all about taking part.

Maybe you have not designed it as a race, but it does have race results.

In general, it’s really interesting that on the Zwift Companion app, you do not have to run the full distance to win the race.

You do if the event is a race. My event is not a race.

It is a group run with race results.

Not a race with race results. There’s a difference.

Perhaps the term ‘race results’ is misleading when talking about group event placing.

I just looked at the overall picture.

It’s very interesting to see how a person can join a race late, join a group of people, and still win without having run the full race.

Note: I’m not singling out any running event; I’m just looking at all Zwift events and comparing what happens with the Zwift Companion app to the Zwift Power site.

In Zwift companion app.
The interesting part is that if you complete the entire run, you get split times. However, if you don’t cover all the kilometers, you do not receive split times (minutes per kilometer).

Again don’t confuse a race with a group event that has race results.

Races don’t or shouldn’t have late join, that defies logic.

Bizarrely they’re called event results when you set them up. But then they become results on the companion app.
