I have raised a support ticket with Zwift but am getting the normal prepared messages about ensuring that companion app and PC are on same network (they are) can someone from Zwift please take this issue seriously, and provide update to anyone with the problem.
Having made no changes whatsoever to the phone or network, companion app worked perfectly this morning and Friday?? Not sure I want to upgrade to 16.1.2 as scheduled for tonight…?
It appears they, Zwift, don’t want actively address this
I have a IPhone 13, running IOS 16.0 (20A362). Never had a problem with connnecting, until update Zwift. Didn’t change anything on my phone. Seeing there’s a new update on the iOS side. Will look in to it tomorrow if it connects.
The update on my iPhone from yesterday seems to have resolved the issue with the Compagnion app. Connected flawlessly today, will keep an eye out on the next rides. iPhone is on iOS 16.1.2 (20B110).
Hope that solves the problem for everyone ![]()

Same issue,
Worked fine with ATV and iphone 7,
Do not work since i change my phone for the iphone 13 iOS 16.1.1
I’ve tried back on my iphone 7 and it works fine ![]()
My hardware:
iPhone 14 ProMax. As of 1 hour ago, running iOS 16.2 (just released today).
Apple Watch 6th Gen w/cellular. As of 1/2 hour ago, running WatchOS 9.2 (also just released today)
Apple TV 4K (Not the most recent 4K model that was released about a month ago. I have the previous model.)
My situation is not quite the same as everyones. But perhaps the difference will be of some help.
I CAN connect the Companion App on my iPhone 14 Pro Max to my Apple TV. I consider myself blessed. However, the Companion App is NOT listed among the apps that have requested and been given permission to use the Local Network on my iPhone.
The Companion App on my Apple Watch will NOT connect/pair to the game on the Apple TV. So I can not use it as a heart rate monitor for the Zwift game.
After getting my new iPhone 14 Pro Max, I was NOT asked for permission to give the Companion App access to the Health App to read data or supply data. I suspect that may be why my Watch’s Companion App no longer works. The Companion App appears in the Health App under “Data Sources & Access” as an “Inactive” application. Without being asked for permission to give the Companion App access to the Health App there is no way to make it active. I do have data from the Companion App in the Health App from back in the days before getting my new iPhone 14 Pro Max. Back then the Companion App was included in the list of apps that could serve as data sources. It was NOT “inactive.”
UPDATE! OK, so this is crazy. I just finished a Zwift ride on my Apple TV . Nothing different from what I described above. As I was finishing up, I looked at my desktop computer (2018 Mac Mini) and said to myself, Self, I wonder what would happen if you ran the desktop version of Zwift on the Mac Mini along with the Companion App. So I opened the Companion App on my iPhone and started up Zwift on my Mac. Low and Behold, once I started the ride I was FINALLY asked to give permission to the Companion App to Read data from, and Write data to, the Health App. Once I gave permission, the Companion App appeared as a data source in all appropriate Health App categories (no longer “inactive”) AND my Apple Watch started to work as a Heart Rate source.
Still fails on iPhone 14 Pro with 16.2. Nothing works and been 3months since I raised the issue and Zwift doesn’t seem to want to fix it. Not sure it’s a specific iOS 16 issue, but rather more iPhone 14 xx series. Whitelisting on Zwifts end? I had my 2018 iPad Pro replace due to cracked screen (with another 2018 device) and re-installing everything from scratch and companion app still works fine with AppleTV. Have even put in the latest model AppleTV and works ok.
So Zwift, pull your fingers out and fix this for us effected customers
Updated to iOS 16.1.2 on iPhone 14 Pro, crossed my fingers, but Companion app still won’t load into live map mode…
Well I don’t know if my issue is the same, but the companion app won’t even let me log in. I keep getting the ooops message, even though I can login with the same ID/password on all other devices. I have tried everything above and nothing worked so far. I have an iPhone 13 on version 16.1.1.
My problem (same as everybody with the companion app not loading the app) started out only 2 days ago. My iOS is 16.2. I was referred to this forum, and as I can see people are having problems for more than 2 months and Zwift is doing basically nothing but continues to charge the monthly amount…interesting business: we charge you full but give you less than half….
OH MY DAYS! I THINK I’VE CRACKED IT!!!
Those of you having issues, do you use Sauce for Zwift (please say yes!)…
I have it in my startup so it’s running before Zwift fully starts up (usually)
I found today that if I close Sauce for Zwift, the Companion App kicks into life within a few seconds. I can then start Sauce for Zwift afterwards and both CA and Sauce work perfectly.
Give it a shot and let me know if this fixes it for you.
Going forward, I’ll just put a little timer in to start Sauce well after Zwift has started.
Woohoo!!
Hope this helps others!
Cheers,
Matt.
(I’ll add this as a new issue on the developers GitHub page)
Is the companion app available for Apple TV? I could not find it yesterday
No, it’s just for iOS and Android.
It is just so frustrating not having the map and the associated buttons available when doing an activity. I can’t image how people, who are having the issue since October are managing. My issue started out just 4 days ago, initially going in and out but for the past 2 days nothing loads in the companion app when Zwifting
Did you try to restart your router. It can be a simple as that.
I configured my phones and PC to have static IP addresses, because sometimes the auto IP address would be out of range.
Static IPs for both the cellphone and the AppleTV and it is back to normal. There is hope…
Thank you for the suggestion
For anyone else who’s issue is caused by “Sauce for Zwift”, I raised it with the developer who suggested I probably had the “Game Connection” option enabled.
This uses the Companion app protocol so if it’s enabled, CA won’t work (I don’t think the caution message existed in a previous version when I enabled the option).
He was right. I had this option enabled. Since disabling, CA works perfectly now. Hope this helps some people…
Matt.
tried that last night…no joy…the companion app still won’t connect to zwift via my apple tv, latest version…was working fine several days ago…think it went wonky after the latest ios update which I did several days ago.
The problem started several days ago…I think right after I updated my iphone to the latest ios.
I’m using an iphone 12 running the companion app to AppleTV, latest version to my TV via hdmi. All devices are updated and had been working fine. Now the companion app won’t connect/pair to zwift but now and then the map appears on the comp app but none of the devices…kickr, hrm, cadence sensor will pair. I can run zwift direct, without the comp app, but the bluetooth limit is exceeded with the kickr/controller and hrm…no cadence sensor which isn’t a big deal.
I’ve powered off all the devices, including the router and modem, checked to make sure all devices are on the same wifi network and they are. But no connection.
It’s not a major issue but it is a problem…perhaps an ios problem more than a zwift/companion problem but if you’re going to use any platform it should work properly.
