Zwift cog set up

Hi,

I am new to zwift , so perhaps some stupid questions -

I received my Wahoo kickr core with cog installed and set up to my bike as instructed - rear derailer to middle gear and small chain ring on the front. Everything felt fine , but when i started a workout i noticed the resistance when i pedaled was quite low. I tried pressing the up button on the clicker and didnt see much difference. Reading some posts on here seem to indicate this is related to ERG settings on some workouts. But my questions are the following : 1. do i need to always stay on the small chain ring set up ?
2. will the resistance improve on other rides and will i have the option to increase/decrease it.
regards, Michael

Hi @michael_loughnane, welcome to Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

It’s nice you read that you’re a new user of Zwift. Do not worry though, you’ll find a lot of sources in the forum that might be helpful.

I noticed that you mentioned what’s included with your setup, the trainer and the Cog. Are you using anything specific to make the virtual shifting happen?

Check out this article: Virtual Shifting Issues for everything you need to get it working right:

Here are a few things to check that might help you troubleshoot if you’re having issues shifting virtually:

  • You have the latest version of Zwift installed on your device.
  • The device you’re running Zwift on is supported.
  • Your trainer is Zwift Ready or Zwift Cog Compatible and supports virtual shifting.
  • You have the latest firmware on your trainer.
  • Your trainer is paired over Bluetooth and not ANT+.
  • Your trainer is paired under RESISTANCE in the PAIRED DEVICES screen.
  • You have a Zwift Click, Zwift Play, or Zwift Ride paired under CONTROLS in the PAIRED DEVICES screen.

Your Zwift Click, Zwift Play, or Zwift Ride has the latest firmware.
