Zwift Click Disconnects during rides

Hi.

My zwift click disconnects during rides. It is connected through the companion app, and the signal says 2 bars even though the phone and zwift click is close. The battery bar says that it is almost full. The firmware on the Zwift Click is up to date with 1.1.0.

I had a race today were it dropped out 4-5 times. My “fix” mid race is to, wait until Zwift click is done blinking (pairing mode after losing connection, it wont auto pair mid race), then go into pairing, open the “Controls” paring and close the menu again. Open the menu again, go into pairing and “controls” the click on the Zwift Click and then it pairs again instantly.
But doing this mid race uphill in gear 17 is the worst. I lose soooo much time and focus. My Zwift Click is bought on august 5th this year.

I will say that sometimes there is no issues at all, but in the last week it has been more often. Hope you can help.

This is likely a signal issue in your home environment. Do you use wifi extenders or mesh networks at home? When was the last time you restarted your wifi equipment? Is the companion app fully updated?

The wifi should not be the issue. Everything else has good connection by Bluetooth to the phone and newer drops from the wifi at the phone. Since i work with IT and and network i do not believe that the wifi signal would be the issue since the wifi connections is newer dropped. Bluetooth to the smart trainer are newer dropped but my Garmin watch will drop sometimes. But I think that is more of a Garmin issue and not the companion app or Bluetooth.

This is a wifi connection, not bluetooth. You say the wifi “shouldn’t” be the issue, but it might be. Best to rule it out, don’t you think?

This might be the issue that some find when the Zwift Click gets slightly bent and loses power so disconnects.

Maybe i was not clear  my phone does not lose connection to the wifi. That has been tested. It is the Zwift click that loses connection to the phone or reboots or something like that.
Thats my thought at least

Do on a round handle bar even with the rubber “stand” behind it, it bends and lose connection? :open_mouth: That must be a design flaw.

Hi @Kenn_Dose_Rhino.

Welcome to forums, this is Haziel part of the Zwift Support Team.

I appreciate that you share your concern about the connectivity issues with your Zwift Click, I recommend you check this article, which covers the main reasons why there will be a connection issue.

Some of the steps have already been covered but please give it a try. If you have any further questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out at support@zwift.com.

This was my problem. Now I hold it in my hand. Not the best solution but, no dropout in three weeks.

Yep, I’m trying to figure out a work around but, if it ends at all it’s not good

I have experienced this on my last few rides. Tried adjusting the battery connections but didnt help, neither did using a flat surface for the zClick. Looks like i will go back to mech gear changes. May move to Rouvey when my subscription ends

Hi @Andrew_Stevenson_GNC

Welcome to the forums! Jose here from Zwift.

Thanks for bringing this query to our attention! I’m sorry you faced disconnections with the Zwift Click, I’ll be happy to take a look at this for you.

After reviewing your account, I have identified several reasons why you are experiencing this issue. Firstly, it appears that you are using an outdated version of the game; the current version is 1.83.0. Please update to the latest version. In addition, the Bluetooth is disconnecting intermittently. Take a look at this article for more info.

Additionally, I see that your trainer firmware is version 1.5.5, while the latest version is 1.5.36. Could you please update your trainer firmware as well?

If you ever need help, remember that you can contact us at support@zwift.com.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for the advice. I have updated my wahoo Kicker. Waiting for a new battery to check click/virtual shifting. Please note my Zwift screen shows me on Version 1.83.2(140279).
Andrew

I have now done everything you advised, including inserting a new battery & updating the Click. I still loose the Click connection after 3 or 4 minutes.
In my humble opinion, the Zwift game works, the Wahoo Kicker works and bluetooth connects the Kicker to my phone. There it seems the Click is the fault.

Thanks
Andrew

Hi @Andrew_Stevenson_GNC! Jose here again from Zwift.

If there is anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate to write us at support@zwift.com.

Thanks for getting back to me. I was sent a new Click. Although it does work sometimes it is a bit of a lottery. If it stays connected for the 1st 5 minutes then it will last the whole ride, but 50% of the time it drops out after 3 or 4 minutes. I have gone back to doing workouts on erg mode rather than face the random chance of being stuck in a single gear.

Hi @Andrew_Stevenson_GNC! Thanks for your response! This is Jose again from Zwift.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still experiencing intermittent disconnection issues. Have you tried reinstalling the game to establish a fresh connection between your devices? Reinstalling can eliminate any components that may be interfering with either Bluetooth or the signal. I’m sharing an article with you to guide you through the process.

Please let us know how it goes, or feel free to contact us at support@zwift.com. so one of our colleagues can assist you further.
