Updated here and everything working fine now… at least I’m able to log in and start the game
After some riding today i decide to update my Catalina 10.15.7 with Beta Update 008
And just tested if ZWIFT is working… And i confirm that there is no problems with new Beta OS Update as well…
MacMini Late 2012
HD4000
16 GB RAM
Catalina 10.15.7 008
Thank you Zwift Team for fixing this bug. I confirm it works.
Update: test ride went fine, but my HR was wonky. I think this is related to too many Bluetooth connections. I’ll have to retest.
Hi Ryan,
Thank you for that info.
I have tried all of that but after clicking Files & Folders Zwift does not show up in the right hand box. I can’t add it as the + or ~ box is not highlighted & neither is the Advanced ? button in the far right corner. I also tried unlocking the lock to make changes but that doesn’t do anything either. Any other solutions would be greatly appreciated. ( I need to Zwift since it’s so cold & wet outside… lol)
Thanks again
Hi @Lesley_Bell
As Ryan noted - you’re having a different issue than others in this thread.
Sometimes when you update macOS, it resets the security permissions for each app back to a default (tighter) setting. The error message you noted sounds like Zwift app can’t write to the Documents folder, which it needs to do or else it won’t start up.
First - follow these directions to allow write permissions to the Documents folder.
Two - if you continue to have problems after this step (and this is common when write permissions were denied) - a total uninstall is necessary to remove corrupted folders and files before you reinstall the Zwift app. It’s a little more thorough then the usual mac Uninstall process.
Step by step instructions are on this Support Hub article
Launch on my MacBook Pro still doesn’t work. I have macOS Big Sur 11.6 and Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Same here
@Ride_Cyclery there’s a clear message here, there are a lot of people who do not want to use expensive high-end equipment for a cycling training application that’s probably sitting in a garage and potentially getting sweat dripped on it. I appreciate that you want to improve the graphics and features but I think you need to keep in mind that most people are using the app for the training, social and racing experience - which in my humble opinion is fantastic without high quality graphics. The game has the option for lower resolution graphics so I think you should continue with that and support running on lower spec equipment. And make your number one priority reliability The basis for this post was being told my MacBook was the cause of the issue.
I agree with u… Also have to say again that there is plenty of hardware which is considered as old (as model), but not in performance…
For example Core I7 CPU from many years ago, paired with 8GB RAM or more, and SSD is more than enough… Regarding graphics im running 720p on my HD4000 and running very smooth (same for 1080p) and dont need 4K for Zwift… If Zwift start needing more than this no way i’ll buy new hardware… I’ll just switch to some other app supporting this (plenty of them)…
If im part of Zwift management, maybe ill think for Linux version of software… Linux can offer better resources management so lower end hardware needed to run properly… And this days Linux distros are really user friendly (most of them, not all, but there is a lot of choice to pick favourite flavor) And there is no other Training software under Linux (except Golden Cheetah)… So whoever do it first will gain nice user base… At least my opinion…
Doesn’t work for me either. MBP, Same GPU, macOS Monterey
It’s working on my MacBook Pro mid 2012
macOS Catalina 10.15.7
Intel HD graphics 4000
Thank you Zwift.
Launched Zwift yesterday for first time since I experienced this problem on November 3rd.
Application updated and is now working, yeah!!
Thanks Shuji for explaining this to me.
I have followed the 1st instructions quite a few times. Zwift app is not found in the right hand box. I cannot add it as the plus & minus buttons are not highlighted.
My question now is If I uninstall Zwift & reinstall it do I lose all my data etc? Will I be able to start where I left off using my same name etc?
Thanks…
You won’t lose any level progress, drops or XP. The only thing at risk is custom workouts if you have made any and your personal best times.
And you’ll have to start rebuilding your power curve numbers from scratch.
Thanks…I seem to have fixed it with no problems.
@Lesley_Bell
Thanks for looping back! This lovely group of helpful humans likes to hear you’re back in business.
Hi, new zwifty here.
Tried using my macbook pro late 2011 (8,1) after upgrading the OS to monterey following the opencore legacy patcher method.
App installs and opens and then crashes after pressing the “let’s go” button.

I have an intel HD3000 512 MB graphics card.
Did a search all over the forum and internet to see if someone had a successful resolution but to no avail.
Looking forward to some guidance!
Cheers
