So this is my first posting and Im relieved to find out that there is an issue, as I too have an older MacBook Pro and the zwift app vanished after the “lets go” button was pressed. I am however gutted that no solution has been found, no idea what Im going to do
They told me I needed to upgrade my ram so I did from 4 to 16. And still doesn’t work. So wasted money for nothing. Any update today Zwift ??
Im using 16GB on my Mac Mini and still have the same problem… I can agree that 4 GB can be on Low side and maybe problematic depend of the system/background apps etc, but it’s not source of this issue… Maybe Zwift can allow us downloading some older versions where this issue was excluded until they solve the problem for real… So this way they can use us as Beta Testers for different versions and to help them to find real issue and eventually solve the problem before we all switch to other platforms…
This is outrageous advice. On Windows, Zwift runs fine with as little as 2GB of system RAM and it often uses less than 1GB whilst the game is running. 8GB is ideal (more will not help or improve anything) but you absolutely didn’t need to spend money to overcome what is a bug with the software. I would suggest you try to return the extra RAM you purchased, unless you desperately need it for other programs.
@shooj This needs addressing, the support agents need to know the current issues and certainly shouldn’t be giving out rank bad advice of this nature.
All - we’ve been working on this bug and are in the process of testing a fix. Will update this thread when we have news on it.
If u need any testers for patches u develop to fix this bug count me in, willing to help… Im sure there will be other users here also interested to help with testing… Maybe that way (testers from real users) will speed up the stable version that is working…
Yea it wasn’t cheap to have Apple install it for me
@Lesley_Bell - your problem is likely different. If you haven’t searched for a solution yet, I think this will work: Open System Preferences and go to Security & Privacy. Click on the Privacy tab and find “files and folders” on the left side. In the window on the right, find the Zwift app and make sure there is a check mark next to “Documents Folder”. You may need to unlock those settings first by clicking on the padlock icon.
Good news, everyone. We just released game version 1.18.3 (1.0.87359) for macOS only that fixes the crash during Zwift app launch. Please update at your earliest convenience.
Note: this build has been verified on Macs that use the Intel HD 4000 GPU. It is possible that other GPU’s need additional tweaks.
If you continue to have launch problems, please post the graphics card spec installed in your mac so we can expand this fix for other GPU’s.
This Apple support page shows you how to grab that information:
I can confirm that this fix works on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro:
Zwift launches as expected, although I still see the same error as above in system.log (it may be unrelated).
I will do a test ride later in the day but this looks promising, thanks to the Zwift developers for the fix!
Now Zwift works again. Good job Zwift Team!
Mac Mini Late 2012
Core I7 Quad Core
16 GB RAM
Intel HD4000
Catalina OS 10.15.7
I Confirm problem beeing solved… Will test ride later…
Good work Zwift DevOps Team…
It works. Great New.
I just got notification that there is 10.15.8 Update for my Mac Mini 2012 (as a part of Beta Developer)
For now i wont install to dont ruin what is finally working, but if someone has still issue with 10.15.7 try with this 10.15.8 Beta…
reinstalled today, still doesn’t work.
Update: nevermind, launching from applications folder wasn’t prompting the app to update. Once I copied that shortcut to desktop and launched from there the app updated and looks good. This seems like a whole other bug, but not fatal.
App update now works!
Seems that today I’ll be Riding thanks Zwift team
@Chris_Evans5
That’s not a bug - it’s expected behavior if you bypass the launcher app. Be sure to start by pinning a shortcut to ZwiftLauncher.exe to your dock. The launcher will check for a newer version, initiate a download if there is one, and then start ZwiftApp.exe. If you bypass the Launcher, you’ll not update the game, nor get the stuff you need to ride in new worlds, or new campaigns, etc.
