Zwift alternatives for children

My granddaughter watched me on Zwift and wants me to set up her bike to do it. Since Zwift is no longer accepting child accounts, does anyone have a good alternative?

Zwift is honestly the best because of the gamification - it just makes riding a lot more fun and engaging (especially for kids). If you are okay with paying, Zwift would be your best bet, it’s just no longer free. Both Rouvy and MyWhoosh do have some sort of XP/coin system but it isn’t as built out as Zwift. MyWhoosh is a pretty decent free alternative

Free accounts get at least 25km per month. It’s easy to exceed this. If, for instance, you do a ride of 20km and then end it, the next ride will carry on past the 25km point until you end that ride.

Sadly because zwift looks like a Nintendo game, it’ll be hard to top it for a child. Think they could ride 25km each month? Just rock the free account for a bit?

With a soon to be 5 year old that’s discovering riding with pedals, I’m bummed they’ve killed the kids off.

I wonder how many kids actually ride more than 25 km per month?
Looking out my window IRL, not many that I see.

@Oliver_ZRace_Central how do you make a paid under 16 account? I tried today and it doesn’t seem possible. I don’t think they are allowing anyone under 16 to open an account now in Nov 2024. Rouvy has a high age requirement too.

Seems like the only option for kids is the free CVRcade but the download links don’t even work on Android or Windows, so that’s telling.

Am I missing something? Don’t mind paying, I just don’t see any options to do so.

What about training peaks virtual (formerly indievelo)?

Not allowed to make an account for U16 - but technically you could make one and lie about the age. That’s unfortunately the only way now. Due to all the legal reasons, none of the other apps allow U16 riders either

It seems like BKool might allow U16 with the family plan? Zwift isn’t even built for U16 with the minimum weight and height requirements. Unless that was different when they allowed U16 accounts.

I believe the weight limit no longer exists for adults - at least for my child account it was removed 3 or so years ago.

lawyers ruin everything

You can try PerfPro Studio. This doesn’t have fancy 3D graphics but might be a solution.

It is a buy once, keep using it. No need to have subscriptions.

You can have multiple trainers on the one session so your grand-daughter can “race” you.

You can also use Strava to create routes and import them into PerfPro Studio. The developer of it is very responsive to support requests as well. It’s actually a very good traditional interval training program. It does a lot of good tracking of data too. It is old school but it works.

Is MyWhoosh still free?

No, the people who create the need for lawyers ruin everything.

Yep. Still free
