ZRS Plugin reveals troubles

I have been using the ZRS Plugin on many race results and its extremely common that the race report is showing „Unknown Device“. I cannot believe that so many racers do use trainers that are not known or cannot be recognized by the plugin. My reports are all green with a kickr core 2. the amount of sketchy race reports is staggering. I wouldnt be surprised if linking an app or device between the trainer and zwift to manipulate racing performance is way more common than we think.

That reveals uncertainty, not troubles. There are loads of trainers out there. Many of them are rubbish. There are also trainers that are fine but uncommon and won’t be known to the plugin. That’s uncertainty you have to live with if you’re going to use it. It is certainly true that wonky trainers are used in popular events so I won’t talk you out of that assumption, especially if it’s something like ZRacing. To avoid more bad trainers you would need to go elsewhere (more tightly managed events in Zwift) for your racing.

It would be useful if all of these types of things could be in one super-thread covering the topic (which they are all forms of):

From other topics, there is a lot of push-back against doing anything on these sorts of things. Suggestions are just “ignore it and you’ll be happier” kind of thing.

That’s because the plugin doesn’t know what device anyone is using. It will say Unknown device for literally 100% of users. It is purely using mathematical formulas for deterministic patterns.

Honestly the only important columns most seem to show is seeing what the actual sticky output is. I also just noticed that some people get an additional column whether a trainer is calibrated or not? Not sure how that’s determined, regardless.

Here’s a few rides for me in the past few days all on my kickrbike, a lead, a sweep, and a cruise.

That far left column is all over the map, and might as well be ignored.
I don’t have as many rides on my TacxNeo2t but it’s mostly the same on the left column. Some are 0%, some range out to 90%, one of them is also unknown just like the shared image.

Not sure if its simple as that. All my rides are being recognised. Same with my collegue and the few top zwifters i checked. it gets questionable when one persons rides get recognized well and then suddenly not any longer while that person is improving very well on performance. Thats a tough combination and a pattern not difficult to find.

I’m well familiar with what you mention. You missed my point however that the plugin doesn’t know what anyone is using, and states that’s the case.

But the left column graph is 100% noise and may as well not exist; proven when the most accurate trainer sold on the market can show anywhere from unknown to 0% to 100%

I dont miss your point. Im just stating that i dont have that issue in any of my races. Nor my colleague nor those i have trust in their riding. If that part in the race report was just non sense, why does that non sense never show up for me or as just described? We have different trainers. From an elite to a zwift bike, kickr or wahoo. If what you are saying is true, we all should get these unknown device msg all the time or often. Yet we dont.

I literally showed you a picture of 3 of my rides in the past week showing as far apart results as one can get.

It’s not, not true, there’s a picture right there to prove it; hence why I shared it.

Again, the plugin is using pure mathematical equations to determine this data. Read more in the “About this analysis” about how it all functions if you want to know more.
The Device type is useless noise, again, as evidence by my screenshot.

It has zero bearing as to what trainer you’re using.

The developer has put in wonderful notes about how all of this stuff works. Please read it.
