what is going on with my ZRS? help me with what going on here. @Paul_Southworth @Peter_Twigt @Rhino-Racing
which part you went up 3?
expecting more?
podium bonus points to the top 3, the people under you probably did better than they were expected to (does ZRS even consider that?)
I can only explain the +97.
Since Zwift has turned on decay again ZRS makes no sense to me anymore. It is all one big foggy mess for me to even try to understand.
I think the move to seed instead of floor was a good move, but the reintroduction of decay is a misserable fail.
5th rider was 349 to 355 +6 , i am 4th rider only+3 347 to 350.
I don’t think you should expect it to be a linear increase as you go down the results, maybe they were predicted to come in further back and you were expected to get a podium?
I don’t think ZRS considers who you beat.
like others have said its a bit of a mess and i’ve sort of switched off trying to figure it out until they get it being movement based on results i don’t pay much attention.
yeah I have no idea what the calculation is, but if it is based off TrueSkill then it is somehow taking all this into consideration. Smarter people than myself have been trying to figure it out and it still seems like a mystery.
It’ll be something to do with sigma. As you do more races and get consistent results the system becomes more sure of your score so you get smaller movements.
The other racers likely have fewer races and/or less consistent results so their sigma is higher.
A lot of the riders, especially in the top 13, set 90-day 5min bests, so they would have got a seed score boost.

29 riders in your pen left the pen, including those not on zwiftpower, there may have been more signups that either didn’t show up in the pen or didn’t move enough from pen to be shown on Tim’s site.
Excluding seed score boosts, approx top 15+ should have got a ZRS increase. @Bath_Salts if you look at the race on Companion app, the summary will show you position of total number of signups, I’m expecting approx 38+ because top 19 didn’t get ZRS decreases.
And looking at last place ZRS decrease, how on earth does a 2.6W/Kg 5min effort for someone with 3.3 in the last 90 days get regarded as a decent effort to get the decrease of -26? ![]()
Decay is turned back on?
has been for months now
No it was reset after I decayed down to 277, bumped to 350 and now 385

September 30th 2025:
So with the Tour of Zwift and Zwift Games it will probably be May or June before they look at ZRS again. Precisely following their 9 months of silence again.
Turned back on in September and had minor changes in November.
Agree number of races often correlates, sort of, with race result point movements. The OP races a lot so I would expect him to be seeing smaller race movements compared to those close around him in all his race results.
The problem is we don’t know how Sigma works - is confidence based on a long run of any results or could it be based on a short recent run of good or poor results.
Racer in position 5 entered race with a higher(just) ZRS than OP and had approx 9 more races (117 v 108) since 1st July than OP. Would we expect position 5 to have same or less result point gains than OP? [ I didn’t bother to check amount of ZRS races against non ZRS races but both look to race very similar events]
A seed score improvement shouldn’t make any difference to the race points gained figure shown in the score change column. [ unless the floor up symbol is required as in racer 7]
Screenshots suggest that at least 31 left the pen. Tim’s site isn’t able to show race starters who then DNF if they are a private racer.
IMO the Minimum Effort threshold is far too low. It should be increased and also compared to 20 min effort and full race effort.
Agree that we don’t know how sigma works within ZRS. I’m saying it’s sigma because it really can’t be anything else.
It could be that the extra score drop you get from finishing last, or in the last few positions in bigger fields, is from sigma getting increased. And the rider in 5th seems to have quite a few low finishes to go with their many podiums.
-26
That is Shocking.
