I’m running Zwift on one year-old MacBook Pro. Zwift seems to normally run perfectly fine except the process of opening or closing the app which is very clunky and usually freezes. If I run it on my phone it works perfectly smoothly. My MacBook is obviously up-to-date and not incompatible and well beyond the required specs for the app. It takes about four times longer to load on the laptop than it does on the phone and at least four times longer to close as previously stated it usually freezes for at least 30 seconds. While playing the game everything is completely normal except it won’t open to a full window even though it’s supposed to according to the way I have it in settings so I have to manually expand the window. I also have the nonstop connection issue message at the top of the screen everyone else is having even though I’m not actually having any sort of connection issues. There is no issue with my Internet, The game is not dropping out because I can still see all the other players and their scores in real time, My Zwift controllers and trainer are obviously still connected….
im on an M1 MBA and not had any issues like that, is yours M3? anything else big running at same time?
Ant+ or BT or both?
For a start, I would try deleting and reinstalling Zwift.
The only other thing I ever run is at the same time is Pandora through the website but Zwift is like that either way. I have literally nothing installed on the computer that didn’t come with it other than Zwift. The computer is mainly just used for writing work email.
If I was to uninstall Zwift and reinstall it I shouldn’t lose my progress if I have my name and password right?
Lol I just tried to make a video showing how it freezes while it is opening and closing and for the first time ever it opened relatively quick and closed instantly. Can’t make this up. It has never closed instantly once ever. It’s usually a minimum 30 to 45 seconds while the swirly thing spins. I am usually able to remove my shoes turn off the fan and still have time to stand next to it while I wait for it to close.
thinking a bit more, when I close the app it might take 15-20 seconds maybe, no spinner though I haven’t seen the spinner since I got the M1 so something is up
Correct. All your progress (levels, badges, garage etc) is held on Zwift’s servers.
