When you get a ride-on, sometimes it’s in a drop-down panel under the center heads-up display. Other times is in the display to the left of your drop count. I first thought it was one was from a “favorite” rider and others were just regular Zwifters but can’t confirm. Does anyone know?
Hi @Steve_Ricketts_Dirt, welcome to forums. This is Juan from Zwift. Thanks for using this space to share your doubts.
Common behavior once you get a Ride On graphic (the blue thumbs up icon) appears above an avatar’s head when they receive a Ride On. It sounds like you’ve been experiencing it differently. Would you mind sharing a screenshot?
Well, that’s certainly true, I do get the icon over the avatar’s head… but I also get a message that tells me who it’s from. That shows up in the heads-up display or in a drop down dialog box below the heads-up display. I don’t have a screenshot but I will try to capture one tomorrow when riding.
Yes, if you get a Ride On from one of your Favourites it will appear in the status box at the top of the screen, to highlight who it was from.
Steve, Yes but my question is why some are in that box (next to drop count) and some below it in a separate window that drops below that box.
Ah sorry. I think the drop-down box is for when the other rider is riding and you have the opportunity to give them a Ride On in return.
Edit - no it’s not. It seems kinda random.
Possibly those you are able to return the Ride On to are actually cycling at the time. The others are your followers who are giving you Ride Ons when they are not riding ?
That’s what I was thinking but no way to tell for sure. ![]()
That’s what I thought, but looking at it when I was riding earlier, that’s not how it’s actually working.
My assumption is that
![]()
Is when I get a Ride On from anyone, regardless of whether I follow them, they follow me, or are a favourite etc.
And that
![]()
Means the Ride On was from someone close to me, within Ride On distance. At the very least, currently riding in the same World.
My other long-standing pondering is this:

Why do the numbers vanish when I get a Ride On? ![]()
