You should ride with the D pacers. I never hear sound effect spam.
Not so. I’m perfectly sane and I like to use them sometimes.
I do take Chris’ point that people don’t necessarily know who is toast or thinks it’s hammer time, and I admit to thinking twice about using them now; but use them I still do on occasion.
Seemingly not
If the noise buttons were disabled in the starting pen for events that would be a huge improvement. There is a phenomenon like a flock of bleating sheep in the start pen that is intolerable. That’s probably more than half of the reason I keep the game sounds off all the time.
Au contraire. It’s you I’m driving insane.
no necessarily about it - there is no way of knowing who said it so why do it? you are just shouting at yourself and annoying other people.
Sometimes it’s just me and one other rider. If I hit “I’m toast”, I think it’s clear enough to the other rider that it was me. (I’m not sure what the range is for sound effects, but if the nearest other riders are 30s ahead or behind, I doubt they’d hear it.)
you aren’t helping your case
type it in the chat and people will know it is you and no annoying noise! problem solved!
Meh, I’m not trying to “make a case”. I can use the flipping sound effects if I want to.
Besides, it’s easier than trying to type in chat on a keyboard that’s off to the side.
I’m not really that bothered by it btw - i was just messing with you!
I mute my PC when using zwift anyway because of all the annoying sounds so i’m mostly oblivious to it all - the ride on graphics on the other hand…
This is kind of making my point for me. If the sounds are so annoying to you (and me, and many others), it really should be possible to mute them
I wasn’t disagreeing with you
That assumes one has chat enabled.
I do not have chat enabled.
If I say I’m toast and no one hears or reads it, am I really toast?
You are toast
That’s what we need, for those buttons to generate some good content to make you ponder your existence.
“Without music, life would be a mistake.”
“Life begins on the other side of despair.”
“Life in the State of Nature is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.”
“Always go too far, because that is where you find the truth.”
Like Zenyatta voice lines in Overwatch. Some of them seem quite apt for Zwift, e.g.
- “Adversity is an opportunity for change.”
- “Repetition is the path to mastery.”
- “Overconfidence is a flimsy shield.”
- “Pain is an excellent teacher.”
Seems like quite a few of us are missing that friendly ding to let others know we’re coming through. It’s definitely a handy feature for avoiding collisions and keeping things smooth, especially in group rides or busy routes.
