I don’t want the ability to create custom routes or climbs locked down to event organisers. Let me build my own - the ones I’ve ridden in real life.
3D Studio Max and Maya were my old stomping grounds, modelling a new route and all the textures and assets needed is exactly the thing I could do easily and to have that bricked off to some event organisers would annoy me.
So I’ll fight against that idea with all my energy.
Unless you mean just a new way around the already existing roads in a world, but that’s meh because I’ve ridden them already.
I really do hope that the revised “Racing Score” coming soon gives much more reward for position results in longer races, compared to shorter (say approx sub 20min) events like Tiny Races… For both seeding the new system and going forward.
And that the reward also takes account of the field strength and the field size (e.g. getting a podium spot against a field of 50+ riders including 10+ strong riders for that category gets more reward than winning against five weak category racers).
The minimum Watt floors for a pen promotion need to go.
Any power related pen promotions need to be from actual numbers for a specific time duration, rather than the awful prediction CE system that’s been in place in various guises for ~22 months.
If power continues to be a factor in pen allocation, apps like Sauce need to be prevented from telling users live power data info that will help them (or other riders) might exceed thresholds.
If power data continues to factor in allocating pens, categories need to at least use all five pens and the range of ability in the lower category pens needs to be reduced compared to the CE system most of 2023.
Fixed frame/wheels for all racers in a pen, newcomers under the new drop shop and level up system are at an unfair huge disadvantage against those who have Zwifted for a while eg. until recently you could buy the DT Swiss 62 wheels at level 6, now they’re level 40!
More course variation in ZwiftHQ official races, especially with the revised physics, all these flat routes are dull as dishwater, use courses with at least small hills like Grand Central and Rooftop Rendezvous much more often.
Really wish at least one of the popular series would do a decent duration trial of the Compound Score pen allocation that’s been available since around summer 2023, before we move to a results based “Racing Score” system. Zwiftracing app showed it worked pretty well, with some tweaking, as original data came from young pros… Which many of us are not.
@shooj or somebody else from Zwift HQ, new year, new resolutions.
It would be nice if someone could acknowledge if this thread is being read. And if some points are taking in consideration. (I don’t ask to implement them, just that some points are being discussed in some kind of meeting, I understand you can’t mention which ideas are being discussed)
That can be done now, there is a tag that can be applied to the race will stop overlays working - I’m surprised they are not enabled for zwift race series & ZRL.
I’m not sure I agree with that as much as I don’t like the impact Tiny Races have had on wider racing.
It’s a different effort utilising different systems to a longer race - I’m not sure you should try to rank one over the other.
Agreed on the Tiny Races being a problem, but that is a different issue to the one being raised as far as I can tell?
Im aware of people doing this specifically in the Tiny Races 6-8 weeks from events to drop their vELO.
The complete unknown, if seeding was accurate, would there be such as rise & fall in elo through those races. The reason why it can be done now is that there is such a wide range of users in each pen as the current seeding system is broke (that implies it worked at some point - it never did).
So if for example, you only had Amethyst and Sapphire racing together that max drop is already limited by the smaller range in users.
We currently have Ruby\Emerald racing against Silvers so that will drive huge swings.
On the point about different races being given different ratings, im still on board with you probably shouldn’t try to over rank specific races or under rank others. They use different systems and shouldn’t be thought of as being better or harder than the other.
I think I posted in the other thread, either everyone starts by compound score or any ranking based on CE races goes out the window when you start to rank & seed by Elo.
Even trying to run a mix of Elo\CE races wont work - Until its one system seeding & ranking riders you wont have true scores across the board and might be gamed.
Back to topic again? I have been enjoying reading people’s top 10 lists as it takes a bit of thinking about and it’s good if it doesn’t detour in to why zwift still haven’t fixed rankings and pens after all these years.
