Things have been very buggy for me since a software update 2 weeks ago. I was getting zero resistance in Zwift and unable to put any watts into the software.
Since the software update last week things have improved but i still only get a good ride going after restarting the software a few times.
Rebooting my mac and power cycling the Kickr for 30seconds doesn’t seem to fix the issue. I get the most success restarting the Zwift software.
I find since the update last week i get an initial burst of resistance but then nothing where as before there was no resistance at all. Also cadence values are all over the place. I find if i launch my wahoo App on my phone i’m able to control the resistance inside Zwift.
Apart from the software change i’m using the same hardware and positioning i’ve been using for years.
Maybe my turbo is coincidently failing but i can get an accurate but boring ride using the wahoo app.
I’m not sure what to try to fix this? it must be quite a niche issue as the kickr v4 must be still a common device and i’m not seeing any other bug reports.
I’m on a WB Atom but I’m also having significant issues. Resistance/gearing feels all over the place. I’m struggling to use my “normal” gears for certain watts/cadence; they feel far too heavy. And as soon as I hit even a 1% incline it feels like I’m pedalling through mud.
I’ve also noticed cadence changes. Everything feels all over the place and I can’t find a steady rhythm. Actually struggling to use the app now (the WB app itself is fine so it’s not a trainer problem). Curious to see if it is a software issue––seems like it could be since I’ve noticed problems on a similar timeline.
A few more tests today. I looked at Zwiftalizer and saw some dropouts on the ANT+ so i removed the dongle and ran it bluetooth only. Data now looks clean. Unfortunately i spent about 3 minutes of the ride with the smallest amount of resistance. RPM data was at least accurate this time. I opened the wahoo app then all of a sudden zwift resistance jumps to what feels like a 20% gradient before settling down to what feels like a 5% gradient on the flats. It was like peddaling in mud but i got the work out done. A little bonus was my power was being overcalculated by 15%. Wahoo app data was matching my Vector 3 pedals but zwift power was going crazy high. I’m going to open a ticket. Also i will try a complete reinstall.
I did a full system clean reinstallation of Zwift but no luck. Zwift starts a ride with zero resistance. I can control the resistance with the wahoo app. At some point in the ride Zwift resistance comes back and i no longer need the wahoo app. It took at least 10 minutes today. I’m not sure what the trigger is: ascending or descending in game, coming to a standstill then accelerating in game.
I suggest contacting Zwift support so they can debug this with you.
I’m having the exact same issues on a wahoo kckr v5. I heard in a zwift ride it might have something to do w AMD.chip which my laptop has.
