Wahoo Kickr Core Power Drop Since Feb Update

Anyone have trouble having your Wahoo HRM picked up by Zwift? Works on every other device, got brand new battery in it and worked well previously up until about two weeks ago…

Yes. Same issues. Just bought mine last week. Worked perfectly for the first ride and then couldn’t get it to pair after that. I’ve researched forums and tried all the tricks. Still no luck. I’d hate to return the thing so I’m hoping there’s something I haven’t tried.

Which device and connection method are you using?

I’m using ANT+ and a PC, and I have no problem at all connecting my Tickr to Zwift.

Running iOS on new iPad, through Bluetooth. Haven’t had any issues with this set up up until two weeks ago

@Kim_Blix are you also using iOS/iPad and Bluetooth?

@Zsolt_Dallos_zsoltda I don’t think I’ve heard of any specific problems with the Tickr, but some people have reported Bluetooth problems since the Feb update.

That person’s using iOS and Bluetooth (albeit a Macbook Pro). You could try Zwiftalizer.com as suggested here: Wahoo Kickr Core Power Drop Since Feb Update - #9 by shooj

I do have an old iPad Air I could try with my Tickr this evening, but that’s a good 9 hours away.

I’m using Apple TV to connect to Zwift. I connect two devices through the TV and the Tickr through my phone.

Hi @Zsolt_Dallos_zsoltda and @Kim_Blix
We’re looking into this for you two and the others in that thread that Daren linked to.

Kim - Apple TV stores your sensors so you don’t have to re-pair them every time you ride. However you should be able to disconnect and re-pair manually. At that time, you should have the option to connect the HR monitor via the Zwift Companion app running on your iPhone. Any difference when you do that?

Thank you, much appreciated!:pray:t2:

Everyone on this thread: I merged a second thread into this one so this issue is in one place.

We appreciate everyone who reported - when we can see multiple instances of a similar-sounding issue, it helps us troubleshoot and identify a fix. We will update as we make progress.

I use a Saris H3 & I have had multiple power drops over 3 rides the past several days. Meaning, the power reading went to 0 watts for a few seconds for no reason. Never had that happen before. I use a pc with an ANT dongle placed next to the trainer.

I have two recent examples (Sunday and today) where connection to my Kickr core failed part-way through the ride and I had to disable BLE on my Macbook Pro and then re-enable it to get Zwift to reconnect. Zwiftalizer shows increased BLE activity during those times. What can I do to help support sort this out?

Any updates on this issue? I’m having similar problems with a Kickr CORE (latest firmware) and a Macbook, paired via Bluetooth. It mostly works, but every once in a while (usually during a race, sadly), the Bluetooth connection drops. I have to power off the Kickr CORE, wait 5-10 seconds, and then restart it (disabling/re-enabling Bluetooth on the Macbook doesn’t seem to help).

Robert, I switched to using an ANT+ dongle and that has pretty much cured my connectivity issues (I had it disconnect mid-ride just once over the past 6 months).

Since I swapped to pairing via ant+ Instead of Bluetooth I’ve had no issues with drop outs or an unstable connection. Best thing I did if I’m honest.

Robert - been having the EXACT same issues and have also found it is either during a race or a hard interval. Wahoo Kickr Core with MacBook via Bluetooth. Looks like I might need to invest in an ANT+ dongle by the sounds of things… ??

That is what I am hearing. I opened a support ticket and they basically closed it saying “sounds like interference”. It’s also not really obvious whose “fault” it is (Zwift? Apple? Wahoo?).

I have tried making sure that I don’t have any other bluetooth appliances nearby (i.e., I put my phone on Airplane Mode) and that seems to have helped somewhat (but it still happens).

I had loads of issues using Bluetooth, switched to Ant+ and my connection has been amazing ever since. Best £20 I’ve ever spent getting that dongle and usb extension.

Bluetooth is a nightmare I have to turn everything off around me because it’s been affecting the resistance on my core, huge interference!

Yes I don’t think it is interference. I have had all other devices turned off this week and it still happened. I have just ordered an ANT+ dongle to save me any future hassle during races. Fingers crossed that sorts it!

Is it me though or does ANT work slower to BT. I am using ANT FC and it just doesn’t hold the power as good or adjust as quick, that said at least today it didn’t drop out

Used it the last couple of days and has been fine for me, no dropouts so far!
