Virtual Shifting Broken?

Since the software update (Apple Silicon App), my Kickr Core 2 seems to no longer respond to virtual shifting or gradients. I’ve restarted the computer, and power cycled the kicker. The gears change on screen, but the trainer appears to be running in perpetual pseudo-erg mode.

Anyone else experience similar issues?

Hi @Q_Aanika_LGBTQz welcome to Zwift forums.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I looked at your server logs and two things caught me eye.

Your Zwift Click is on a slightly out of date firmware version 1.0.1, and that might cause irregularities with your virtual shifting. Please update the firmware using the Zwift Companion app. Instructions here.

Your heart rate monitor is recorded in logs as a generic unit that might be capable of broadcasting over ANT+ only? And yet, there’s no sign of an ANT+ USB dongle plugged in to your Mac. Is there one? If yes, please unplug the dongle from the Mac.

Once you’ve paired the trainer and HRM over Bluetooth in this order: Power > Resistance > Cadence > Controlable (meaning the Clicks) > HRM, please go to the Settings menu in the game. There’s a tab called Hardware. Would you snap a photo of that and share it here? It’s possible there’s something amiss in the settings.

Also : sorry for the lag in getting to your question. We have a very small crew of Zwift HQ folks here, but a much bigger team standing by if you contact us this way instead..

I was wondering how to update the click firmware, thank you for that link!

I was able to get virtual shifting working again after power cycling everything again. However I did lose virtual shifting on separate occasions afterwards only when riding with a pace bot(?)

I will update the controller firmware- I concur that is likely the source of the issue.

(I.e. Outdated Click Controller firmware interfacing with the latest Kickr firmware)

My HRM is Bluetooth and Ant+ (but I never use Ant). I sometimes pair it through the Kickr bridge via Bluetooth and the bridge labels it “Generic Ant+” by default for reasons. Other times I pair it directly to the Mac and it’s “Power Labs”.

I know this is a wordy reply, i just worked as a software developer for many years, and i appreciated any sort of bug report/repro steps.

Thanks for the support!

Is your trainer connected via wifi? If so, your issue is likely the same as many others are having with wifi trainer connections at the moment.
