I have a V6 with all firmware updated done, when I try to use the click it says ‘your trainer doesn’t currently support’
The two most common explanations that I see are (1) accidentally pairing the trainer via ANT+ which cannot support virtual shifting, or (2) not actually having a V6 model. Which firmware version is installed on it?

It’s definitely a V6, how can I pair without ANT?
You need to pair the trainer via Bluetooth, WiFi, or Ethernet (DirectConnect). This is done by clicking on the tiles on the pairing screen and selecting one of the not ANT+ options. Assuming you have a PC or Mac with an ANT+ dongle, I suggest removing the dongle while you test this.
Can you confirm the trainer is running KICKR v6 Firmware 5.4.29 / WiFi 1.3.26?
That is not a V6 trainer. It looks like it’s probably a Kickr V3 (2017 model). It does not support virtual shifting so the message you’re seeing is expected.

It could also be a Kickr V4 (2018 model) with outdated firmware. But that doesn’t help you with virtual shifting.

Ahh, that’s annoying, assumed the 6 in the model number meant it’s a V6
If you mean the 6 in “Wahoo KICKR 6877”, that 6877 number is not the model, it is the last part of the trainer’s unique wireless identifier that helps you distinguish it from another KICKR that might be nearby when you are pairing. The part numbers are printed on a label on the trainer and listed in that document I linked above.

WF123 core work?
Useful, thanks
If it’s a Kickr Core (which should say CORE on the legs) it should work. The part numbers for the two Kickr Core versions are WFBKTR4 and WFBKTR125 which you can find on a label on the trainer. Make sure the firmware is up to date.
Thanks, it’s the TR4
So should work?
If the firmware is up to date yes. Older firmware will not support virtual shifting.
I figured as Mr Southworth (
) was doing such a fine job of providing assistance, there was room for a little bit of humour as well. ![]()
I haven’t got that trainer, it’s for sale and I’m making sure I get one that works. I won’t know about the firmware until I buy it.
The only thing that should prevent updating it is if Wahoo marked it as destroyed after a warranty replacement, but you could ask the seller to make sure it’s on firmware 1.5.36
